Confused on what makes a resume effective in today’s job market? You are not alone. Resumes have changed in three key ways: Format, Content and Organization. The first audience reading your resume may be a computer. Employers are using keyword scanning software to evaluate resumes for their job openings. This software looks for keywords in your resume. You can show that you are a good fit for their job opening by including keywords and putting your resume in a format that will go through that software. Westmoreland Career Link offers a Resume Workshop twice a month. At the workshop you will learn how to:
Create an effective resume Formatting Using key words Send a tailored resume to meet the employers’ expectations Insert skills that employers want Writing a Cover Letter Sending a Thank You Letter
Workshops are available twice a month. The workshops for April will be held on the 14th and the 28th. Each workshop will last approximately 1 ½ hours. Seating is limited, so pre-registration is required. If you cannot type, no problem. Follow up appointments are available to type up your resume. Your resume is a marketing document.
