STAR QUESTION: Share a time when you inspired someone to give
their best work. How did you do this and what was the result?
Situation: My undergraduate fraternity was in a deep debt and owed multiple creditors tens of thousands of dollars
Task: Upon being elected treasurer, I had to return the organization to a fiscally balanced budget or had to shut down the organization
Action: I renegotiated all outstanding debt, boosted collection rate from members from 60%-100%, implemented a digital billing system, raised taxes, eliminated all non essential discretionary spending, elicited donations from the alumni base
Result: The organization grew, became sustainable, and could devote efforts towards fulfilling the vision and purpose of the group. The chapter later became the #1 club in North America when I became President.
Thank you!
