CAREER PORTFOLIOThe frightening truth

Page 2: Career Portfolio

I am Graduating

I am graduating into a recession, many employers are freezing jobs where they can not hire people, and there are many people who are losing their jobs.

I am a victim my I lost my job, the company that I was working for got evicted so everyone lost their jobs.

For this reason I looked up three jobs that I could get quickly when I graduate to generate income because I plan too expect the unexpected

MY LONG TERM GOALS My dream is to become a Physician

Assistant I enjoy working in the medical field and I

have had a chance to experience it when I was able to volunteer with the City of Miami firefighters/paramedics. I have also volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club and at The North Regional Rehabilitation center and exposing myself to different types of people have affirmed that I have the patience and passion to be a Physician Assistant.

MEANWHILE…..

When I graduate from the University of Florida I will not have finished taking the prerequisites to apply to the physician assistants program, therefore, I will be enrolling at the community college to continue to take classes.

Since my goal is to be extremely focused with my school, I want a job that is flexible when I graduate.

I need to pay bills!

Since I want a highly flexible job that is most likely to be hiring in the middle of a recession, the three jobs that I am interested in are cashier, sales associate, and a certified nurse assistant.

A CNA job will be very beneficial to me because it will expose me to the many sides of the medical field. It could also count as the hours needed to get accepted into the Physician Assistants Program at the University of Florida

Cashier A cashier is some one who rings up

the goods or services that a consumer would like to buy. They are also responsible for receiving and disbursing money.

Cashiers could make a decent amount of money if working in places like Publix or high end restaurants.

Many times cashiering gives you an opportunity to move up in the business.

Interview: Cashier= Jennifer Allen Where did you work as a cashier? Guthries Did you like working as a cashier? Yes, it was such an easy job How much did you get paid? I started off at $7.50 and hour

and then when I got promoted as assistant manager and I started getting paid $9.00.

How was it when you got promoted? I received so many responsibilities, I had to buy things at

Sam’s Club and I had to always be available if someone didn’t show up, that’s what really sucked and I also had to make the deposits.

Do you recommend cashiering to anyone? Of course it is an easy job, yes you have to deal with peoples attitudes from time to time but if you have a bubbly personality and you do not let things get to you, you will be fine.

What exactly do you do other than sell? I also promote, sometimes I am on campus, on the set “Turlington”, promoting Victoria’s Secret; we always have great discounts and giveaways.

IN CONCLUSION

These are the jobs that I am considering looking into when I graduate
