The aim:

To support future partnerships among participants in the conference in the field of career guidance for young people.

Why do we need such projects?

75% of the 20-64 year-olds to be employed (Employment)

Reducing school drop-out rates below 10% (Education)

At least 40% of 30-34–year-olds completing third level education (Education)

Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP)

Eligible countries: EU members, EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland ), Croatia and Turkey. From 2012 (maybe) Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina , the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

The programme funds education projects at all levels from early care and pre-school education to adult education. The issue of career education at school and university levels falls within the scope and priorities of several subprogrammes of LLP.

Comenius sectoral programme (School Education)

A. Multilateral partnerships

Relevant goal: to test and put into practice new organisational and pedagogical approaches.

Main activities: mobility of teachers, pupils and representatives of regional education authorities for exchange of experience.

Minimum number of countries in a partnership: 3 schools from 3 countries

B. Regional partnerships

Relevant goal: improve the quality of education services at regional level

Main activities: publications, events, transnational mobility (teacher exchanges, study visits of staff working in the local/ regional school administration)

Minimum number of countries in a partnership: 2 regions (2 regional education authorities, 2 local partners, 2 schools)

C. Multilateral projects

Relevant goal: school development, leadership and links with the world of work

Main activities: new curricula, training courses (or parts of courses) or materials for training of teachers or other categories of school education staff or for use by pupils;

Leonardo da Vinci sectoral programme (Vocational Education and Training)

A. Mobility projects for VET professionals (career counselors)

Relevant goal: to exchange experience and good practices in the field of vocational guidance.

Main activities: transnational mobility of career counsellors (1-6 weeks).

Minimum number of countries: 1 sending and 1 hosting organisation (2 countries)

B. Partnerships

Relevant goal: development of guidance and advice on VET, reinforce or create closer links of VET with working life.

Main activities: publications, events, transnational mobility.

Minimum number of countries: 3

C. Transfer of Innovation

Relevant goal: encouragement of cooperation between VET and the world of work.

Main activities: test and transfer into practice innovative methods and systems addressing the issue of early school leaving in initial VET.

Minimum number of countries in a partnership: 3

ICT Multilateral Projects – KA3 (All education levels)

Relevant goal: to promote the ICT based lifelong learning.

Main activities: ICT based education content, guidance services.

Minimum number of countries in a partnership: 3

Roma Multilateral Projects – KA1 (School and university)

Relevant goal: keeping Roma children at school and university.

Main activities: transfer and development of strategies and innovations to keep the Roma people at school.

Black Sea Cross Border Cooperation Programme

Eligible countries: Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Greece N.B. Certain regions from these countries!!!

Relevant goal: Promoting educational exchange

Main activities:

*Partnerships among universities, high schools and research centres aimed at the design and development of special educational programmes based on topics of common interest in the Black Sea Basin;

*Networks for the exchange of experience in adapting education and vocational training systems to the needs of a market economy, based on common approaches, in cooperation with already existing regional/national structures.

Minimum number of countries in a project: 1 (national project), all (different activities in each country connected to one goal), all (the same activities take place in all countries)

Relevant goals:

*Improving quality of social infrastructure

*Developing quality education

Main activities:

* establishment of social infrastructure in the field of education;

* promoting the mobility of citizens; innovative teaching and learning projects; networks of academic and professional expertise; designing joint study programmes, establishing networks, exchanging information.

European Social Fund

Eligible countries: EU member states.

The European Social Fund operates in each member state through operational programmes. In most cases nationally oriented. Involvement of external experts is possible.

There is also a transnational element focused on exchange of good practices!!!

Relevant goals: enhancing access to employment and preventing unemployment.

Important: for the next period 2014 – 2020 a greater emphasis will be placed on combating youth unemployment

PROGRESSThe EU employment and social solidarity programme.

Eligible countries: EU members, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey and Serbia

Main emphasis: exchange of good practices in support of policy development in the field of employment and social affairs.

Typical activities: info seminars, workshops, studies, literature review …

Priorities: Support EU initiatives such as New Skills for New Jobs and Youth on the move

Examples of expected results: Supporting the development and exchange between public employment services, education and training providers and companies on lifelong learning and guidance to help people make choices regarding careers as well as education & training.

European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) – extended by 2013

With up to € 500 million available each year, the EGF helps workers find new jobs and develop new skills when they have lost their jobs

Funds: job-search assistance and careers advice

*When a Member State is made aware of large-scale redundancies caused by globalisation, it immediately mobilises its employment services to design a plan to help the workers affected. Once the plan is ready, it may submit an application to the European Union for part-funding through the EGF.
