History / Background:

Late winter 2007 – informal discussion with Tasos (Anastasios Kentarchos) in Brussels on future EU marine carbon cycle research; Tasos raises idea of C assessment report terrestrial&marine combined (potentially also EU GHG conference – the latter may be turned into 1-day event)

5 Oct 2007 – Experts meeting at Brussels on GHG research, Tasos (Andrew Watson, Arne Körtzinger, Christoph Heinze; Detlef Schulze, Anette Freibauer, NitroEurope, CarboNorth, CarboAfrica etc.), ca. 15 attendees – product: Summary from rapporteurs Experts consultation meeting on: 'EU-funded research on carbon cycle and greenhouse gases: current state of the art, policy implications and future research needs' (Brussels, 5 October, 2007), 22 pp.

6 June 2008 – Authors’ meeting in Brussels, Tasos, Anette Freibauer, John Gash; outlining, discussion of first drafts

May-August 2008: CarboOcean members provide input

15 July 2008 – first order draft, copyediting by John Gash; Andrea Volbers writes outreach part, enquires about figures and optimises text+figures, legal issues, collation of international experts’ view

15 September 2008 – second order draft

14-16 October 2008 – Detlef Schulze, Andrea Volbers, John Gash, Christoph Heinze finish joint draft, write executive summary, design integration figure…

31 October 2008 – final pdf created by Yvonne Hofmann in close collab. With Andrea Volbers and Detlef Schulze

End of year: Final report will be avaible (including foreword by Commissioner)
