WHAT YOU’LL NEED • Shark-inator cape template, assembled • 1 yard light- blue felt • Straight pins • Fabric scissors • 2 sheets each of stiff felt in dark- blue glimmer (we used Darice Felties, $8 per pack; amazon.com) • 2 sheets each of white and silver foam (we used Darice Foamies, $5 per pack; amazon.com) • 18"x4½" piece of red felt • Tacky glue or hot glue • 1½" strip Velcro HOW TO MAKE 1. Fold your fabric in half, then place the template onto the fabric, aligning the straight edge with the fold. Pin in position. Cut out the shark shape through both layers of fabric, then remove the template (keep the fabric folded). 2. Using the additional templates, cut out the dorsal fin and details. Flip the templates over to get two mirror- image sets, if your felt is single-sided. (If you’re using plain felt, layer two pieces and cut both at once.) 3. Apply glue to the back of one large dorsal fin, leaving a 1" border on the bottom edge, and place the back of the other dorsal fin on top. Let the glue dry. Press open the bottom edge into a T shape; add glue. Sandwich the folded edge of the shark body in between. Glue on dorsal details. Let dry, then unfold flat. 4. While the dorsal fin dries, use the templates to cut out the additional details from felt and foam as directed. Following the image, layer them in position, then glue in place. Let dry. 5. Glue the soft (loop) side of the Velcro piece to the underside of the collar tab on one side, and glue the scratchy (hook) piece to the top of the collar on the other side. Let dry.
