NOTES TO 2011 TIMETABLE - CAPE
1. The time indicated on the Timetable includes Reading Time.
2. Starting times for all centres within a territory are 09:00 hr and 13:00 hr.
3. Art and Design: The Test Papers (Papers 2 and 3 for Unit 1 and Papers 1
and 2 for Unit 2) are to be handed to candidates on Friday, 15 April. The
examinations must be completed during the period 03-13 May.
4. Once scheduled in the same session, the Alternative Paper 03/B must be
written after Paper 1 or Paper 2.
5. Private candidates registered for the Alternative Paper (04/B) in the French and Spanish Unit 1 and Unit 2 examinations will not be required to take a written paper but will be required to take the oral examinations. No dates have been scheduled for the oral examinations, however, they must be taken between 25–29 April, at the discretion of the Local Registrar.
Use of Dictionaries
6. The use of dictionaries is permitted for French and Spanish Paper 3 ONLY. Candidates are allowed one text related to each theme – a total of three (3) texts for Section 2 Paper 3.
N.B: Texts that are heavily annotated are not permitted in the examination room.
Use of Calculators
7. The use of silent non-programmable scientific calculators is permitted for the following examinations:
(i) Accounting Units 1 and 2
(ii) Applied Mathematics Units 1 and 2
(iii) Biology Units 1 and 2
(iv) Chemistry Units 1 and 2
(v) Economics Units 1 and 2
(vi) Electrical and Electronic Technology Units 1 and 2
(vii) Environmental Science Units 1 and 2
(viii) Geography Units 1 and 2
(ix) Geometrical and Mechanical Engineering Drawing Units 1 and 2
(x) Management of Business Units 1 and 2
(xi) Pure Mathematics Units 1 and 2

Use of Compact Discmans/Tape Recorders (Walkmans)
8. The use of Compact Discmans/Walkmans is permitted in the aural examinations in French Units 1 and 2 Paper 1, and Spanish Units 1 and 2 Paper 1. Each candidate will be provided with a compact disc (CD) for use in the Paper 1 examination.
Use of Geometry Sets
9. The use of geometry sets (mathematical instruments) is permitted in the following examinations:
(i) Applied Mathematics Units 1 and 2
(ii) Pure Mathematics Units 1 and 2
(iii) Environmental Science Units 1 and 2
(iv) Geography Units 1 and 2
Multiple Choice Papers
10. The Paper 1 examinations will take the multiple choice format in:
