On Board Housekeeping Services Tracking for Indian Railways
Situation:
Customer satisfaction is the prime moto of Indian
Railways. There are various vendors who are
performing the on board housekeeping services for
AC and Sleeper coaches for various trains.
Indian Railways wants to measure the service level
agreements for the service they perform with daily
attendance as well as non compliance of the SLA.
Business Value:
• This brings the confidence among the passengers for the various services provided by
railways.
• The SLA compliance measurement is very easy and reports are available on the click of
a button.
• Data across stations is consolidated and station wise comparison is possible.
• Since the NFC cards are proposed for the application – the solution is extended to the
periodic pest control of the coaches.
• Cost of the solution is reduced by using the same hardware/cards in many applications.
• The payment cycle to the vendors is reduced significantly as the report is available very
easily.
Indus Solution
• Indus has provided the solution which has NFC – 13.5 MHz cards fitted in every
compartment of the AC Coaches as well as sleeper coaches.
• Every person who cleans the coaches has been given the reader when he performs
the task.
• The device shall be assigned to the user when the train leaves and he keeps the
records using this reader.
• When the train reaches the source station again, the data is transferred to the cloud
storage where various analytical reports are generated.
• The cards which are used in the solution has 1K of the memory. The same cards are
used to store date of reporting so that the inspection en-route can be done very
effectively.
SB Jain International School Case Study- An educational institute solution.
Current Situation :
School wants to automate the attendance
of students. A lot of time is wasted in
marking the attendance of students. The
major concern is the safety of students as
all the students are coming from HNI
families of the city. Notification of student
arrival in school is required.
Indus Options :
RFID Based Time attendance System. In this system, every student has issued a unique
card and that card is used to mark the attendance of students. This has some drawbacks
which customer wants to overcome.
(a) Buddy punching: Students punch their friend’s cards and do proxy attendance.
(b) Touch the cards: In this students need to touch the cards to the RFID readers which
again customer doesn’t want.
UHF Card Readers:
UHF cards readers have the comparatively higher range as compared to RFID card
readers. So a student need not go near to the device to mark the attendance. But this has
again a limitation in which if students going in a crowd reader doesn’t read the card and
mark student absent.
Indus Solution
• We issued 13.5 Mhz cards to all the students and gave a handheld to the teachers
which can read the cards coded with unique key.
• In the server room, our software is running fetching records of the student punches in
real time and sending SMS to the parents using the SMS API. Present text, as well as
absent text, is sent to the parents mobile number automatically with the software.
• Student name followed by some text with exact punch time is sent to the parent mobile
about the presence of their wards. After a certain time, an absent SMS is pushed to
the parent number informing about the student absent.
Reducing Labor requirement by almost 50% using RFID
based tracking solution
Current Situation :
Operation in MRO tasks is performed with a
manual, paper-based system. When MRO
provider receives a component, a document is
created for tracking.
The record is updated whenever the services
are performed on that particular component.
These records are retained for at least three
years in hardcopy. MRO engineers and workers
spend 20 percent of their time simply filling out
and managing the documents.
If employees visited a client's site to conduct MRO services on helicopters, they had to
bring paper and manually fill out details that could later be input into the back-end software.
Indus Solution :• Indus Developed a RFID based solution where the items when received are tagged with
unique tamper proof cards.
• Software reads and write the tags with the information to and from those tags. The
software is being developed as a cloud based software s that this can be remotely
available to all the stake holders.
• With the recent advancement and awareness of RFID Technologies, many components
are already tagged by manufacturers. MRO workers enter that existing tags ID number
into the software.
• Once service to the part is completed, the new inspection data is written to the tags and
stored in the software. Defective parts are updated with the information with IATA
approved data.
• Each time MRO worker provides service to a component, such as an inspection,
maintenance or repair, he encode the part's tag with data related to that service.
• Reports are generated using EXCEL and PDF
Business Value :• Reduced a paper work and mistake in taking the records.
• Better control on the state of their inventory and maintenance state
• Use of UHF readers are able to reduce the total amount of labor time that its workers
require to provide component and helicopter MRO services by approximately 50 percent.
• Better planning in time management, reduction of the manpower due to use of this
technology and increased accuracy of the data and reduction of errors.

healthclub
Situation:
Chain of the healthclub wants to gain the customer
confidence by providing them the quantified data that
what they commit to the client is offered.
The chain management has approached Indus for
the possible solution to this problem.
The typical problem is that, Ladies SPA needs to be
visited only after 9.00 PM. How to provide the proof
to members.
Business Value:
• The health-club has gained the confidence of the members by showcasing the

• The tasks which are created by the housekeeping staff is assigned very effectively to
the other vendors and time to close is monitored very closely.

• The regular maintenance activities like swimming pool clearning, water tank cleaning,
pest control and lift maintenance contracts are easily track as the dates of the planned,
actual and next due are stored in the cards placed at various places .

• The housekeeping staff when visits the facility to clean, he swipes the cards and data
of the swipe is sent to the cloud server.
• If there are tasks which needs to be reported to the management or other vendors
needs to be assigned the task, the same is done with the cloud app provided as a part
of the solution.
• With this arrangement, the tasks of the housekeeping staff is monitored for the service
levels with various compliance reports.
• The solution is given to the client as user based charges so there is no CAPEX on the
