Commuter Challenge is a Canadian non-for-profit initiative aligned with National Environment Week and powered by Teletrips to promote sustainable commute options. It is a valuable social marketing tool designed to drive awareness of the social, environmental, and economic impacts associated with commuter behavior

In 2009 the Commuter Challenge attracted 44,551 register users representing 1636 employers from 159 cities across Canada.

The Commuter Challenge provides participating organizations with an outstanding opportunity to to foster the respect of their employees, customers and corporate peers by demonstrating their commitment to the health of their employees and the health of the communities where they operate.

PARTICIPANT LOG IN After registering with Commuter Challenge, you will receive a welcome email that will be used to activate your individual account.

The link in the email will take you directly to the Login screen where you will have single sign on access to all tracking services for the week of the challenge.

MY TELETRIPS DASHBOARD Every time you access the Teletrips you will be presented with your personal Dashboard.

The dashboard will contain summary information regarding your triple bottom line impacts to date and a comparison chart to see how you are doing compared to those in your peer group

USER PROFILE Click on User Profile to edit your individual profile.

Street address is optional. If you enter your street address it will be used in the calculation of your commute route and may give a more accurate commute distance. However, postal code serves as a good proxy.

REGISTER YOUR VEHICLE Select the Year, Make and Model of the vehicle you normally use to commute to the office. Click Add Vehicle once you have selected the vehicle you normally drive.

If you own more than one vehicle and will occasionally drive it to your office then repeat the selection and click add vehicle for each one.

COMMUTE ROUTES Google Maps is available to help set up your commute profiles and calculate your commute time / distance.

Once you have entered your home and office address, your route will automatically be updated and Google will calculate the most direct route, highlighted in blue on the map. You can change your route directly on the map interface. The distance and time will automatically be updated as you change the route.

COMMUTE LOGGING Tracking your Daily Work Choices is as simple as 1-2-Done 1. Simply click on the day you want to enter commute data. 2. A form will appear with two drop-down lists - How I got to the office and How I got home. Choose the option from the list that describes your choice for that day and click Save.

If a day is left blank, it will be assumed you did not work or drove to work and no credit will be given.

DAILY REMINDERS Daily email reminders will be sent to you to remind you to enter your commute or non-commute days for the week of the Commuter Challenge

The reminder will contain a summary of your triple bottom line impacts to date along with a link that will take you to your company tracking website – where you can review the details of the total impacts you have had to date and log your most recent daily work choices.

NATIONAL RESULTS You will find up the minute results on the National Commuter Challenge web stie

Choose the RESULTS tab located on the top bar of the web site

Here you will see how your company stacks up. You will be able to compare your results to other companies and cities participating in the challenge from coast to coast.
