Issue #19 CAMPUS CORNER Jan. 24, 2016 An Update from the Christian Student Center at the University of Tennessee, Edited by Tyler Ellis (Campus Minister) and Jordan Andershock (CSC President) GULFCOAST GETAWAY 2016, by Jordan Andershock From January 15th to January 17th, the Christian Student Center attended the annual conference known as Gulf Coast Getaway in Panama City, Florida. The total attendance for our group was about 40 students. Located at the Edgewater Resort, Gulf Coast Getaway provided an opportunity for students to mingle with Christians from other campuses. Various organizations such as the Christian Relief Fund were also in attendance passing out information to interested students. Each day, there were two main group sessions begun by worship and ended by a speaker. The two primary addressers were Jonathan Storment and Josh Ross. The theme was “Collide: When Heaven Meets Earth.” All of the presentations will be made available at gulfcoastgetaway.org if you are interested in hearing them. After the group sessions, there were individual classes where lecturers talked about specific topics such as discipleship. Overall, the weekend was spectacular. I tell people that you will get out of Gulf Coast Getaway what you put into it, and many of the students absolutely poured themselves out this weekend. Aside from worship and fellowship, the students were allowed a lot of free time. Much of it was spent at the beach, playing volleyball, or even doing homework (*gasp of shock and horror). Tyler and I would like to thank Mike Buckley, Joyce Troxler, and Ingrid Ruffin for the help they provided throughout the weekend. Their service was vital to how well the whole trip turned out. Thank you!
