We are a community of educators, staff, parents and alumnae working together to support, teach and inspire young women to be curious and caring about the world they live in.

We comprise a diverse and dynamic student body of innovators, thinkers and change-makers, with the courage to ask difficult questions and the conviction to lead the change.

We are globally connected, with a sister school in South Korea and an alumnae network of trailblazers, who light the way for future generations to make a difference in the world.

We offer a curriculum rooted in the best practices of the IB liberal arts framework, with a Branksome-distinct approach to innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity and international-mindedness.

We are committed to the well-being of each community member, enabling them to flourish and enhancing their capacity for resilience.

We believe that our students are at the heart of everything we do, as we push forward in educational research and advancements in teaching and learning.

Junior School

Students in our IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) — Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6 — follow an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary approach to learning. The PYP framework is learner-centred, with opportunities for students to think critically, collaboratively and creatively, and inquire deeply while developing local and global perspectives on a broad range of concepts and issues.

The PYP provides a solid grounding in skills development and excellent study habits. From the earliest age, girls learn to express themselves as competent communicators and to develop self-reliance.

MEET SOME OF OUR JUNIOR SCHOOL TEAM MEMBERS

Evita Strobele

Primary Years Programme Coordinator

A devoted and passionate educator, Evita joined

Branksome in 2004. She enjoys working collaboratively

with colleagues to create a learning environment that

motivates students to become independent, critical and

creative thinkers. Evita is a PYP Workshop Leader and IB

Site Visitor.

Kristin Buchanan

Junior School Physical Education Teacher

Ever since she joined Branksome in 1999, Kristin

has served as an inspiring leader through her deep

commitment to community and service learning. From

championing the Terry Fox Run each September to helping

direct the talent show, Kristin loves the challenge of trying

new things.

Jeanette SEYMOUR’94

Grade 1 Teacher

Branksome Hall alumna, Jeanette has a special connection

to the school, inspiring a new generation of creative and

spirited Branksome students. Jeanette has taught a number

of different philosophies, but feels that IB has allowed her

to become the teacher she wants to be.

Housed in Sue Bett House at 2 Elm Avenue, the Junior School is

now home to many modern spaces and facilities – from the light-

filled art studio to our first technologically advanced Makerspace,

and Grade 4 and 5 classrooms. Throughout these spaces you’ll find

curious, confident, open-minded learners and a faculty committed

to nurturing a lifelong love of learning.

Senior and Middle School

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) engages students, from Grades 7-10, in a liberal arts program that teaches students the essential skills for learning how to learn, as well as their own unique learning strengths and areas for growth, ultimately preparing them for success beyond Branksome Hall.

Grounded in the liberal arts tradition, the IB Diploma Programme features study in Humanities, Mathematics and Sciences. Designed to instill a global perspective and promote cross-cultural understanding and respect, the Diploma Programme supports Branksome Hall’s mission to inspire students to shape a better world.

MEET SOME OF OUR SENIOR & MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAM MEMBERS

Donn Pasiliao

Technology Experience Designer and Coordinator

Donn brings his years of experience as an engineer,

researcher, designer, programmer and teacher to

our classrooms and STEM activities. As an advisor to

Branksome’s co-curricular Robotics Team and Adaptive

Technology Club, Donn supports students by bridging

his two Masters in Child Study and Education, and

Mechatronics Engineering.

Edith Louie

Instructional Leader, Mathematics

Edith’s passion is teaching, a trait that is evidenced by the

energy and care she has brought to the classroom in her

20 years at Branksome. Edith previously worked at Port Hope

High School, where she credits terrific department members

for showing her how to assess students in a variety of ways

and how to be a creative Math teacher.

Trevor Ritchie

Mathematics Teacher

Last year, Trevor Ritchie received the Stanford University

Teacher Tribute for exceptional teaching. Nominated by

alumna Alexandra REEVES’17, now a Stanford student,

Trevor is known for instilling humour, enthusiasm and

passion into his lessons. Trevor also coaches the Middle

School Track and Field team.

Curiosity, caring and the confidence to ask difficult questions are

attributes are fostered through our Middle Years Programme (MYP)

and Diploma Programme, designed to provide a progressive

platform for learning, inquiry and growth.

At Branksome Hall

Thanks to the generosity of Branksome parents, alumnae, grandparents, employees and other friends, Branksome Hall is a leading and innovative institution. Community giving has a positive and direct impact on all areas of Branksome, from innovative academic and co-curricular programs to world-class facilities and life-changing student financial assistance offerings.

• In 2015, we opened our award-winning Athletics and Wellness Centre, built thanks to the generosity of our donors who contributed over $15 million through our Branksome Becomes campaign. Students are now benefitting from our two saltwater swimming pools, yoga and dance studios, rowing centre, multi-purpose gym, high-performance fitness centre, as well as a bright dining hall and outdoor terraces.

• Last year, Branksome Hall raised more than $1.6 million. Many community members choose to make major gifts in support of particular school projects or campaigns. Gifts of this magnitude can be pledged over multiple years, typically ranging from $25,000 to those in the seven-figures.

• in 2017-18, the Annual Appeal raised over $1 million from 905 donors in support of facilities, programs, technology and equipment, and student financial assistance.

• The 10 Elm Society recognizes donors who have chosen to make a legacy gift to Branksome. Legacy gifts include bequests, gifts of life insurance, and other vehicles types of planned gifts.

Moving forward, the Campaign for Branksome Hall will focus initially on a capital project that will allow Branksome to provide students with state-of-the-art and innovative learning environments.
