kATIE — WCB Trailshack Coord. This is Katie’s fourth summer working at Wilderness. Her favorite things to do at camp include listening to loons, eat-ing cinnamon rolls, and double-packing portages. She is also a birth doula.
Katelyn — WCB Program Coord. Fun fact: Katelyn is a new graduate with a degree in life sci-ence education. You may find her exploring, knitting, or hav-ing a quick but spam-tastic life jacket snack.
Grace — Wapo Team Lead and
Waterfront Coordinator Grace is from Apple Valley, MN and she is currently studying chemistry and biochemistry at Bethel University. In her free time, she is involved with campus ministries and she loves to paint and to do puzzles. There was also this one time she slept inside the piano in Crossfire chapel.
ben — Wapo team Lead Ben is a science student at Winona State University where he studies science. He has a science to sneaking around camp and a science to mak-ing the perfect piece of camp toast. Did we mention he likes science? Also, if there was a Hunger Games with camp staff, Ben would be a fa-vorite to win because of his anime, rock-climbing, and science skills.

O ne of the topics the Black Lives Matter movement has brought to public attention is the disproportionate effect the coronavirus pandemic has had on communities of color. On June 27, many of the music world’s biggest stars – in-
cluding Usher, Quavo, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Shakira, The Roots, and many others – came together in the “Global Goal: Unite For Our Future”
to raise awareness and donations for this cause. W6

T he games were exciting in their own right this week, however, fans were busy hitting “F5” or the refresh button on their computers due to the trade deadline. The biggest transac-tion of the week was when BROWN team traded two future first round picks for the cur-rently retired 3-time all-star Karl. Karl who retired early two seasons ago decided to make
his way back to the league to play with his SLPers. Despite the time-off, Karl is expected to make an immediate impact and will likely regain the titles of fastest player and best calves.
PURPLE team continues their historic season with a win over GREEN team. The game started very slowly, in fact, for the first 7 minutes and 38 seconds, not a single item crossed the midline… which is the record for longest time without an item to start a game and longest item drought. It was Grace who eventually brought a football across the line just by walking backwards the whole time. But it was the fris-trio of Chip, Esther, and Ella who took over the remainder of the game.
BLUE team was victorious over ORANGE team thanks to Shawn’s Player of the Week Performance. Shawn put up a stat-line of 32 tags, 8 deflections, and 10 items snagged. Grace had an impressive outing despite her minutes-restriction due to her injury last week. She is expected to be fully healthy next week to hopefully rally her team to secure a couple more wins before playoffs.
BROWN team overcame RED team in an exciting match. Karl and BROWN team proved that they can still be a contender down the stretch during this week’s win. Despite the loss, Kellen had a bounce-back week and he was clearly the best player on the pitch this week… so there is reason for hope despite dropping 3 games in a row.
The face-off between YELLOW team and MAGENTA team was undeservingly the least viewed game of the year. There was only one fan present… even Tim’s parents did not show up to the game this week. It was also forced to compete on the airwaves as it was slotted at the same time as LWLBC Tuesday Trivia. During the game, 12 geese entered the game and stole one of the noodles. It was the first time in 10 seasons when an item has gone missing during a game. But most excitingly, YELLOW team perfectly executed the extremely rare “Mighty V” to obtain the last item and win the game!
