Summer months can be met with a the huge sigh of relief from the kids, as they are able to sleep in past 7am. But as the weeks of “there’s nothing to do mom,” go on and on, remember, in no time they will be clamoring to go back to school. Most kids and families enjoy water fun and it certainly allows them to expend all of their energy. Check out the YMCAs, your local recreation center and Dam Neck beach for some fun in the sun. Sunscreen is a must have for these summertime outings and below are some quick tips to protect everyone in the family: Plan outside sun activities mid-morning or late afternoon. Wear long sleeve shirts and beach cover ups. Get a hat to wear and apply sunscreen using at least SPF 15 and UVA, applying 30 minutes before going outside. Are families enrolled in the EFMP able to be stationed overseas? Yes. Overseas assignments require all active duty personnel and family mem- bers to be screened. If it is determined sufficient care is NOT available at the overseas duty location, the monitor/OCC field sponsor will research other duty assignments, meeting the mission of the Corps and the needs of the family member(s) enrolled in the EFMP.
