The CZ92 Series Universal Clamp has been designed and

developed after extensive research and field testing. This non-welded

clamp incorporates many innovative design features. The jaw and pad

incorporate a triangular shaped wear indicator (see illustration

on opposite page). These components should be replaced when

serrated teeth wear down flush with wear indicator.

The standard clamp is fitted with a hook ring and a cam

operated locking mechanism, however, hook rings can be

replaced with a chain pull locking mechanism (see

illustration below). The pad and jaw are

manufactured from high grade heat treated steel

and are suitable for all structural steel up to

300 Brinell Surface Hardness.

Please contact our sales/technical

department if the plate to be lifted has

a higher surface hardness.

NOTE: The CZ920.5 clamp is

supplied without a locking lever.

The CY Non-welded Hinged Universal Clamp is a variant of our

successful CZ92 Series Clamp. The clamp has all the innovative

design features of the CZ92 clamp and incorporates a hinged hook

ring. This device enables the clamp to be used at any angle thus

permitting awkward lifts previously considered hazardous.

The standard clamp is fitted with a cam operated locking

mechanism but this can be replaced (at no additional cost) by a

chain pull locking mechanism (see illustration below). The CY

range is fitted with hardened steel pads and jaws that incorporate

tooth wear indicators.

The clamp is designed to lift and handle plate with a surface

hardness up to 300 Brinell.

Contact our sales/technical department if plate to be lifted has a

higher surface hardness. Other clamps in our range are available

for this application.

The Camlok CZ Series Vertical Plate Clamp differs from our CZ92 series in that the body of the clamp

is a welded construction. The series has a lifting capacity range of 1 to 30 tons.

The standard most popular clamp is fitted with a hook ring for attachment to the lifting device, this

can be replaced with a short length of chain and master link, see illustration. This type of attachment

should be chosen for the smaller clamps if they are to be used with large capacity overhead cranes.

The clamp can be supplied with alternative body shapes ie. sharp leg clamp to aid in the attachment of

the clamp to stacked plates and the dragging clamp that has a reinforced

body if the clamp is to be used to drag plates along the floor level.

All clamps are fitted with cam operated spring locking mechanism,

this can be replaced with a chain pull lock open/close device.

Clamp jaws and pads are manufactured from high tensile steel and

have heat treated serrated teeth. This clamp series is suitable for

handling steel plate with a surface hardness of up

to 300 Brinell.

Other clamps in this brochure are designed to lift plate with

a higher surface hardness. The CZ series clamp can

be used to lift plate from the horizontal

to vertical position and

vice versa.

The Camlok Series CX range of Clamps has been

developed especially for the handling of plate at

any angle, thus permitting the lifting and

handling of awkward shaped plate and

fabrications. Single plates can be

lifted from the horizontal to the

vertical position and vice versa.

Vertically racked plates can be

turned over due to the in-

built lifting eye and link.

Standard CX clamps are

fitted with a cam operated

closing mechanism that can if

preferred be replaced with a chain pull

close/open mechanism.

Clamps are fitted with

hardened serrated teeth jaws

and pads that are suitable for

gripping steel plate up to

hardness of 300 Brinell.

The Camlok Type “T” Wide Mouth Clamp is designed to lift and

handle thick section plate and components. The horizontal

gripping force is transmitted to the load being lifted via a grade 80

chain and chain rollers. The clamp is opened by pulling down on

the lever attached to the moving jaw.

The clamp is suitable for lifting thick plate from the

horizontal to vertical position and vice versa.

The clamp design is versatile and can be easily modified to

suit loads of virtually any width. Clamps with WLL’s of 2

tons and below are fitted with link chain as shown in the

illustrations. The 3, 5 and 10 ton WLL clamps are supplied

with roller chain.

The standard clamps are supplied with moving jaw and

fixed pad with serrated steel teeth, these can be

replaced with jaw and pads

The Camlok High Grip Clamp has an additional lever in the

clamping mechanism thus asserting a very high gripping force

on the plate being lifted. The clamp has been designed to lift

plates with hardened surfaces and for stainless steel plates.

The clamp is suitable for use with materials up to 376 Brinell

surface hardness. Clamps can be

used for lifting and turning plates

from the horizontal to vertical or

vice versa.

The standard clamp is fitted with

a hook ring but can alternatively

be supplied with a short length of

chain (see model opposite).

NOTE: Clamp will mark the

surface of the material being

lifted.

The Camlok TSS Plate Clamp has been designed to handle

material without marking or causing damage to the surface

finish. The clamp is particularly useful for

handling stainless steel plate when it is

important not only to preserve the surface

finish but also not to impregnate the steel

with ferrous material.

The main wedge shaped jaw manufactured

from aluminium is adjusted to suit the load plate thickness by

turning the removable handle. The fixed jaw is manufactured

from stainless steel. Both jaws have smooth surface finishes.

Lifting via the hook ring activates the internal mechanism

gripping the plate between both smooth jaws. The clamp

incorporates an additional serrated tooth moving jaw that is

activated if the load starts to slip.

The TSB Gentle Grip Clamp is designed

to lift and handle various types of

material such as steel, timber, plastics,

laminates etc. without causing damage to

the surface finish. The fixed pad and

horizontally moving jaw are lined with hard

wearing rubber (Bremsit). The lateral

gripping load is transmitted to the moving jaw

via a short length of chain routed between two chain

pulleys (see sectioned model below). The clamp can be

used to lift plates from the horizontal to vertical position and vice

versa. Ensure that load surfaces are free from oil, water, rust or

loose paint prior to attaching the clamp.

The LJ range of clamps is specifically designed to lift plates without

marking or damaging the surface finish. The clamp is suitable for

lifting various types of plate materials eg. - steel, timber, plastic,

laminates etc. The clamp is particularly suitable for lifting thin gauge

steel plate, aluminium and stainless steel. The clamp is also suitable

for steels with a surface hardness above 300 Brinell. The

performance of the leather jaws is not affected by water, the

clamp can be used under water, eg. submerged plasma

cutting machines.

The clamp is a low cost alternative to our TSS range of gentle

grip clamps, and particular attention to the maintenance and

replacement of leather pads is necessary. See clamp operator

instructions for detailed information.

The Camlok Girder Turning Clamp is designed to lift, transport and turn RSJ and universal

beams from the horizontal to the vertical position and vice versa.

The Gripping force is transmitted to the pivoting jaw via a chain and chain roller (see sectioned

illustration at bottom of page).

The chain roller is supported in a pivoting arm that enables it to be locked into 2 separate

positions, at the front or the rear of the clamp. Positioning the chain guide roller in the rear position

enables beam sections to be automatically tipped from the vertical to horizontal position.

With the roller parked in the front position, beam sections can be automatically tipped from the

horizontal to vertical position. Beams can be lifted and transported in the vertical position.

The Camlok Bulb Bar Section Clamp was designed specifically for

lifting and handling bulb bar sections or fabrications containing bulb

bar sections. The clamp is almost exclusively used in the ship

building industry.

The clamp is supplied as standard with a hook ring as shown in the

illustration this can however be replaced with an integral short

chain sling for direct connection to the hook of the lifting

appliance.

The clamp is fitted with a

Camlok spring operated

safety lock.

The Camlok CG Clamp is designed to lift and transport rolled steel joists in the vertical

position. The clamp is designed to land the beam in either the vertical or horizontal position.

The clamp is fitted with a cam/spring operated safety lock. Long lengths of beam should be

lifted with 2 clamps supported from a lifting beam, see illustration above.

The TTR Series of Clamps have been

designed to lift and transport structural steel

beams in the horizontal position i.e. with the

flanges in the vertical position.

The clamp is designed with the hook ring as

near as to the centre of gravity of the beam as

possible, thus resulting in a near horizontal

lift.

Long beams should be lifted using 2 clamps

attached to opposite beam flanges (see

illustration below). The clamp is fitted with a

Camlok spring/cam operated safety lock.

The TTG Girder Clamp is designed to lift and

transport structural steel beams in the vertical

position i.e. with the flanges in the horizontal

position. The clamp is fitted with a Camlok spring

operated safety lock and is operated by pulling the

locking handle upwards. Long beams should be

lifted with 2 clamps attached on opposite beam

flanges, the clamps supported from a lifting beam,

see illustration below.

The TTT Series Clamp is a variant of our TTG clamp

(see previous page) this clamp is designed to be used

in pairs supported from a 2 legged chain sling. The

bottom toe plate is split thus enabling the clamp to

be attached to the end of the structural steel beam.

The clamp is fitted with a spring

operated safety lock.

The clamp is particularly useful for

erecting structural beams on

construction/building sites.

Used in pairs the Camlok CH Clamp is designed for loading process

machines and to lift and transport sheet steel plate in the horizontal

position.

A single pair of clamps supported from a 2 legged chain sling

(maximum included angle 90˚) are used to lift short lengths of

plates. Long lengths of plate must be lifted using 2 pairs of clamps

supported from a lifting beam, see illustration below.

Standard clamps are supplied with smooth jaws, these can be

replaced with jaws with serrated hardened steel teeth if

requested.

The clamp is

designed for use with 2

legged slings only. Never attempt to reeve a

single leg chain sling through the shackles.

Note The CH1 clamps have one jaw only.

The HH8 and HH8L clamps are

fabricated from high tensile steel for

ease of handling.

The Camlok Adjustable Height Horizontal Plate

Clamp is designed to lift and transport thick plate

and plate bundles in the horizontal position.

The clamps are used in pairs for short lengths

of plate. For longer plate lengths 2 pairs of

clamps suspended from a lifting beam are

used, see illustration below.

The height of the jaw pivot arm is easily adjusted

via a spring locked rack and lock bar device. The

clamping jaw is always positively brought into the

correct position ensuring a safe and secure lift.

Standard clamps have a jaw capacity of 0 to 150mm

and 0 to 250mm.

Camlok Roller Toe (RH) are designed to reduce surface damage to plate

being lifted in the horizontal position. The clamps are used in pairs for

short plate lengths, for longer plates 2 pairs of clamps supplied from a

beam must be used (see illustration for CH clamps).

The WH Clamp has a serrated toothed pivoting jaw, this clamp can be

fitted with secutex reinforced plastic pads (see illustration on the right).

The Camlok THS Clamp has a spring/lever operated mechanism that

securely locks the clamp onto the horizontally positioned plate. The clamps

are used in pairs or 2 pairs supported from a lifting beam to lift and

transport plate in the horizontal position. The ability to lock the clamp onto

the plate enables a single operator to quickly and safely set up the plate for

lifting.

The clamp is particularly useful for loading plates into guillotines,

presses, punching and folding presses. The loading

mechanism is pre-tensioned ensuring a safe lift.

These clamps can be used in pairs or singly.

The Camlok THK Clamp has a jaw that pivots in the reverse direction to our

normal horizontal clamps and is designed to lift and handle thin sheet plate

that tends to sag when being lifted. The reverse jaw feature

ensures that the clamp grip increases

the more the plate deflects

under its own self weight.

Single plates only can be lifted.

Clamps are used in pairs with a 2 legged

chain sling (maximum included angle not

to exceed 60˚). Two pairs of clamps

supported from a lifting beam

must be used when handling

long plates.

The Camlok Hand Clamp is used to manually lift and

carry sheet material in the workshop environment. The

innovative design enables the operator to open and attach

the clamp to the sheet material by depressing the lifting

handle. Two pre-tensioned hardened serrated toothed jaws

grip the sheet securely when the handle is released.

The clamp has a WLL of 250kg (500lbs) and is

suitable for sheet material 0 to 10mm (0 to 3/8

inch) thick.

The clamp can be provided with an extended

length handle, see illustration below.

This illustration

shows a novel application for

the clamp. Clamps are permanently

attached to a conveyor that is batch processing sheet

material through a paint booth.

An angled ramp at the end of the line process

activates the handle thus releasing the load.

The TSD, TSH and TSZ have a screw cam

pad (see illustration “Screw Cam Assembly”)

when a load is applied to the clamp the

circular toothed pad pivots in a cam action

gripping the load, for this reason the

threaded axle should not be

over-torqued.

Safety is our top priority. All Camlok clamps are proof load tested to 2 x the clamps

working load limit. A test certificate and certificate of conformity is issued with each

clamp. Most importantly operator instructions showing how to correctly use the clamp

and specifying the correct application of the clamp are supplied with each clamp.

Please note the clamp purchaser has a legal duty to ensure that the operator has

access to the operating instructions prior to the clamp being put into use.

Regular monthly training sessions are held at our Chester works.

Two types of training sessions are offered.

LIFTING CLAMPS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS

This training session covers the whole Camlok range of below the hook lifting

equipment explaining in detail how the clamps operate and the correct application of

each clamp. The session is sales orientated.

LIFTING CLAMPS EXAMINATION AND TESTING

This training session has been designed for the benefit of works engineers responsible

for the examination, repair and testing of clamps.

The duration of the training sessions is 7 hours.

Training is offered free of charge, please contact our sales department for further

details and the date of the next scheduled training sessions.

CAMLOK lifting equipment is manufactured using modern production

equipment and cost effective flexible manufacturing systems and

techniques.

Computer aided engineering enables designs and drawings to be

produced quickly and cheaply and then downloaded direct to modern

computer controlled equipment. Production is controlled by a materials

resource planning (MRP) system in conjunction with a very simple cost
