INTRODUCTION

interconexiones 2011, is an international exhibition of video-dance, which this

year is presented in its 2nd version, after which in 20101 met 113 works

from 5 continents and successfully exhibited in 10 cities in 6 countries.

The event, which spread both academically and culturally, did call about

900 people in all its projections, who freely enjoyed, appreciated and

discussed this contemporary art form. Following the event, we released a

DVD compilation2 with 51 of the videos presented, with which spreading

was achieved even greater distribution to the participating artists as to

libraries of academies and dance schools in Spain.

THEORETICAL

We understand video-dance like a choreographed work made specificallyto be displayed on the screen, which creatively fuse body language, visualarts and audiovisual language resources in the service of the work. This

includes choreography designed to be filmed, reworked for film/videochoreography or previous performances and animations based on thecomposition of motion, among other variables in the format.

More than a creative genre, we consider video-dance like an artisticstrategy -deeply contemporary- which allows research, merger anddevelopment of local and collective aesthetics and countless simultaneousorigins. For this reason we are invited to attend the upcoming internationalcircuit viewing, diffusion and reflection of this artistic area.

interconexiones 2011 invites a participatory questioning of the concept

video-dance , which values both its originators of action (choreography,drama, scenery, costumes, musical, design and composition of movement in a physical or virtual space, and so on.) and their artistic expansionsarising from the technical experimentation of the moving image (e.g. video-

performance , webcam-dance , ciber-dance , etc.) Thus, we may question andclarify hybrid concepts about dance, multimedia and possible

combinations of sense, while allowing a discussion of contemporaryaesthetics. Each work submitted may be original from more than one point of view: either the creative factor or by technical factors, allow unknownartistic variables, and hence, of analysis.

PROPERTIES

1. Will be received previously performed video-dance works, video format, from any location.

2. A curatorial committee will select the works to be screened on the dayof the exhibition.

3. Will publishing the program and participants by different media.4. This exhibition is not competitive, so there is no economic incentive.5. After the exhibition, works selected will be published in a special

edition DVD, which will be sent a copy to each participant, as well asspecialist video libraries.

RULE BASES

a. Every artist and work equipment can participate, of any nationality without

age limit.

b. Will receive works maximum age of 4 years (2007), with a maximum duration

of 6 minutes.

c. Each artist and working groups may submit up to 2 works.

d. Will accept only creations made -specifically- for screen display, no receive

records or documentary works out of that format.

e. Accept copies on CD or DVD (no labels on the cover), AVI format encoded in

PAL or NTSC, properly identified.

f. The REGISTRATION FORM can be downloaded from

to [email protected]), which you must print, complete, sign and

send by mail along with the DVD, or scan and send by e-mail.

g. You must submit 2 pictures (video stills) to [email protected]

with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, for purposes of registration and media

release.

h. The curatorial committee will select the works according to criteria of quality

and aesthetic content.i. The receipt of material will be confirmed by e-mail.

j. The videos will not be returned.

k. The works selected by the curatorial committee, will be collected on a DVD-

catalog, which will be sent a copy to each participant.

l. The organizing committee, in exceptional cases, has the power to change the

place and date of exhibition of selected works.

m. The shipping costs of the work, from its origin to the address of the organizing

committee, shall be borne by the participants.

n. The receipt of material by the organizing committee will mean the acceptance

of the rules by participants.
