Color Markers ForGrantswood’s Kids

Grantswood children were doing crafts during a recent event that MBBC members coordinated. One child did not want to leave her craft and after she was told that she could finish the project at home, the child respond-ed, “I do not have markers at home.” Before school lets out for the summer, the goal is to provide each child a pack of markers for the sum-mer. Please send a contri-bution to the finance office designated for Color Makers for Grantswood.

Come to historic Collinsville, Alabama and experience one of the largest outdoor markets in the south. We have more than you could possibly see on a Saturday, so plan to come back again and again. When you get here you will find all kinds of antiques, collectibles, children’s toys and clothes, work clothes and boots, fishing gear, fresh fruit and

vegetables, furniture, tools and a whole lot more! We have everything from “cribs to coffins.” We also have several food vendors making all sorts of tasty treats. At Collinsville Trade Day you can find homemade ice cream, hand dipped corndogs, authentic Mexican food and of course, hamburgers and hotdogs.

Tennessee Williams Home & Rosedale Historic HomeColumbus, Mississippi

Meet at church at 8:00 amDepart church at 8:15 amCost: $10 plus lunch money

This trip is rescheduled from January when the trip was cancelled due to the threat of bad weather. The bus will leave the church parking lot at 8:15 am. Upon arriving in Columbus, MS we will have lunch at Harvey’s Restaurant.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tennes-see Williams, considered the most im-portant American playwright, was born in Columbus, Mississippi in 1911. He spent

his beginning years in an old Victorian home that was the rectory for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where his grandfather served as minister.

Then we will tour ROSEDALE, which is considered one of the finest examples of Italianate architecture in Mississippi. Rosedale was entirely restored to its orig-inal 1856 state, including original paint colors and wallpaper patterns.

Amish Country Etheridge, Tennessee

Meet at church at 7:15amDepart church at 7:30 amCost: $10 plus lunch money

A trip to their farms is like a step back in time. Enjoy Amish country wagon tour, Amish crafts, antiques, glassware, cast iron, vintage jewelry and more. Pick up jams, jellies, pickles, chow-chow, candy,

jerky, butter and cheese. Bring cash to shop.

In 1944, the Amish people migrated to Lawrence County, Tennessee. There are now approximately 300 Amish farms in Ethridge. The Amish community at Ethridge is one of a handful in Tennessee, and at ten church districts, the largest Amish settlement in the South.

Construction Missionaries NeededThis summer, June 9-16, 2018, Builders for Christ from Mountain Brook Baptist Church will go to Jacob’s Well Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to build a new/larger worship center for this rapidly growing church.

Prior to 2006, Jacobs Well Church was meeting in schools and had 350 people in attendance. In 2006 Builders for Christ went back to Jacobs Well and built a 34,000 square feet sanctuary and children’s education area. Then in 2011 because they had out grown their space for the children, we returned to build a 17,000 square feet children’s wing. Today they have over 2,100 in attendance every weekend. They have outgrown their worship space and we will be constructing a new worship area that will seat 750. They will simul-cast their services into the old worship

area. This will enable 1,300 people to worship at one time. It’s exciting to see God at work in this congregation.

Volunteers are needed to join our team to build a tool that Jacob’s Well Church can use to bring more people to know Christ. “Construction Missionaries” will be roofing, running electrical wire, and installing the ductwork for the heating and cooling systems. We can’t forget the cooks. Everyone enjoys eating and the fellowship time during our meals. To sign up, contact Amy Jackson at the church. Her contact information is (205) 803-3471 or [email protected]. We would love to have you join us. No experience is necessary.

To accommodate folks with commit-ments on Saturday, June 9, a group will leave on Monday the 11th. (by Ed Wills)
