Will and Allison visit Diospi Suyana Hospital We were fortunate to have a one week trip to Peru to visit Diospi Suyana Hospital during the month of February. “Its like buying a house without having seen it” Allison made this comment when describing our commitment to work in Curahuasi, sight unseen. Although we had met with Dr. John, the hospital’s founder, and though we had spoken to many people associated with Diospi Suyana and were assured that God was doing a great work there, we had never been in person. We are grateful for our parents who watched the kids for a week, enabling us to a make a visit. After reconnecting with some generous missionary friends in Lima, we arrived in Curahuasi quite wobbly-kneed from a curvaceous mountain taxi drive from the Cuzco airport. Over the week, we were able to see day-to-day operations in the hospital, visit missionary homes, go to the local market, meet many of the long-term doctors and their families, and even do a bit of sightseeing. We ended the trip in Cuzco where we ate good food, learned about the Incan culture, and greatly enjoyed the comforts of our very nice hotel! There is something about seeing a place with your own eyes, walking through the community, and talking to the people that imprints it on your heart. This trip certainly solidified our high opinion of the work being done, our appreciation for the natural beauty of the Andes mountains, and our compassion for the situation of the Quechua people. It also gave us a healthy dose of the reality that God will have to do this good thing in us. By ourselves we are not strong enough or tough enough. Will and Allison visit Diospi Suyana Hospital

We were fortunate to have a one week trip to Peru to visit Diospi Suyana Hospital during the month of February.

“Its like buying a house without having seen it” Allison made this c o m m e n t w h e n d e s c r i b i n g o u r commitment to work in Curahuasi, sight

unseen. Although we had met with D r . J o h n , t h e hospital’s founder, and though we had spoken to many people associated with Diospi Suyana

and were assured that God was doing a great work there, we had never been in person. We are grateful for our parents

who watched the kids for a week, enabling us to a make a visit.

Please pray that God will continue to provide

The Quechua people of Peru are very poor, earning an average yearly income of approximately $900. Needless to say, this is not sufficient to pay for a hospital like Diospi Suyana, much less for the expenses of the physicians who serve there. God has blessed the Quechua people with this hospital because He is concerned for them. We believe that he has equipped us to serve as His hands of healing to the Quechua people of Peru.

What do we need?

We are looking for people who believe in what God is doing in Peru through Diospi Suyana Hospital and who are willing to financially support us to reach out through medic ine and education. We need to raise yearly support of $45,000 dollars while in Peru and about $50,000 for our year of language school in Costa Rica.

We are praying that God will provide:

10 - $200 per month donors,

15 - $100 per month donors,

20 - $25 per month donors

This totals $4000 per month. This would allow us to use one time gifts for the purchase of a house, car, or plane tickets home.

How is it going?

It has been an amazing blessing to share the story of God’s work in Peru with believers from all over. What an honor to have the blessing of so many saints, friends old and new! We have enough money from one-time gifts and pledged monthly support to study in Costa Rica next year. More tenuous is the outgoing costs and sustained living in Peru. Would you consider making a commitment to support us for two years?

The Kids Speak

DavidI thought that Peru was going to be

bad until I saw some pictures of when Mom and Dad went. I think it will be pretty cool to see what another country is like, although I think it will be hard to learn the language. I wonder what people will be like there. I cannot wait to see all the cool places. Mom and Dad tell me there are a lot. Its going to be hard to

go away from all of my friends. Overall I think I am doing what I should do.

Peter

I feel pretty good about moving to Peru. I am looking forward to seeing all the Andean condors and all the birds. I think we do not have enough time to learn Spanish before going, but Dad says I will learn it well when we get there. I think I want to get used to not having much oxygen in the mountains so that I will be a better athlete and able to run without getting tired.

Annie

I am excited about learning to speak Spanish. “Como estas?” I am excited about seeing people who speak Spanish. I am excited about living in the mountains and I wonder what it will be like up there. I am sad about leaving my friends, but I know I will make new friends in Peru. God will take care of us.

Sarah

I want to go to Peru. I want to play with a puzzle. I want to play with a puzzle in Peru!

Finding a Support Team:Fundraising

Each week Diospi Suyana Hospital serves as many patients as it can. The hospital has the ability to see 100,000 patients each

year, but it is currently limited by the number of available healthcare providers. With each physician added to the work the volume can increase by 10,000 patients each year. What a great return on a minimal investment. By supporting a physician, you

have the chance to impact thousands of people each year.
