Projects Catalogs

The new specification editor will open 2 different files:

Catalogs files

Catalogs store enhanced data tables

– Data tables replace the data files in CADWorx 2012

There are 3 types of catalogs

– Global

– Industry

– Company

There are 5 different ways to populate a catalog

– Create New

– Transfer by Drag and Drop from base catalog reference

– Transfer by Drag and Drop from other catalogs

– Import data by specification (CADWorx 2012 version)

– Import data by data flies (CADWorx 2012 version)

This catalog contains

all industry data. Subset of Global Catalog

Smaller subset specific

to company or project

Global

Company (.CMP) has an

optional base catalog reference

• Base catalog can be a

global or industry catalog.

Industry

Oil and Gas Exxon

Global Exxon

Company

Industry (.IDS) has an optional

base catalog reference

• Base catalog can be a

global or industry catalog.

Global (.CAT) has NO optional

base catalog reference

NO UPDATES CAN BE

There are 5 different ways to populate a catalog

A catalog can be populated with information using the following options:

Project files

Projects store specifications

– Components are added to spec from the base catalog

What are base catalogs

– Projects and individual specs can reference different catalogs.

Create new project

– Default component descriptions and part number sequences can be added globally to a project. These

default settings will carry over to new specifications.

There are 3 different ways to populate projects

– Create New Spec

– Import Spec

– Transfer Spec from another Project file

Define a branch table

– Each specification has a branch table
