Military Vessels

DS 02-527 (NES527) 440 V 105°C

Application

Fire resistant cable for power, control, lighting use, etc., in military vessels where the cable is required to retain circuitintegrity in the event of a fire, for emergency lighting, alarms, shutdown systems etc. Incorporates LFH (Limited Fire Hazard)sheath for reduced levels of smoke and toxic fumes in the event of a fire.

Specifications

• In accordance with DS 02-527

• Conductors: Stranded Class 2 tinned copper conductorsto BS EN 60228

• Insulation:Up to & including 16mm2 - silicone rubber insulation to

BS7655 + fibre glass braidand lacquer

25mm2 and above - silicone impregnatedglass tapes

• Core Identification: Cores shall be number printed

• Outer Sheath: Black LFH (Limited Fire Hazard) outersheath to DEF61-12 part 31. In addition, the outer sheathalso displays the following characteristics:Minimum oxygen index: 30%Maximum HCL emission @ 800°C: 0.5%

• Flame retardant to BS EN 60332-3-23 NMV 3.5(IEC60332-3-23 Category B) as a minimum

• Meets 3 hour 750°C fire test (identical to IEC60331)

• Voltage Rating: 440 V

• Temperature Rating: 105°C maximum conductoroperating temperature

N.B. Cables also retain a degree of flexibility underweatherdeck conditions of -30°C

Application

Multicore collectively screened cables for control circuits in HM surface ships and vessels. Incorporates LFH (Limited FireHazard) insulation and sheath for reduced levels of smoke and toxic fumes in the event of a fire. For use in fixed or flexibleapplications and suitable for use where fuel, lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids and water are present.

Specifications

• In accordance with DS 02-526

• Conductor: Flexible Class 5 tinned copper conductorsto BS EN 60228

• Insulation: Dual layer LFH insulation to DS 02-526

• Core Identification:2 core - blue, brown3 core - green/yellow, blue, brown4 core - green/yellow, black, blue, brown5 core - green/yellow, black, blue, brown, black7 core - cores shall be number printed

• Outer Sheath: Black LFH sheath to DEF61-12 part 31.In addition, the sheath also displays the followingcharacteristics:Minimum oxygen index: 30%Maximum HCL emission @ 800°C: 0.5%

• Collective tinned copper wire braid screen(minimum 0.61 filling factor) Braid is left bare

• Flame retardant to BS EN 60332-1-2 for completed cableswith individual conductor size less than 4mm2. BS EN 60332-3-23 NMV 3.5 (IEC60332-3-23 Category B) as a minimum, for completed cables with individualconductor sizes 4mm2 and greater

• Voltage Rating: 440 Vrms (between cores, or betweencores and ships structure, or between cores andcable screen)

Multicore armoured cables for power circuits in HM surface ships and vessels. Application

Multicore lightweight thin-wall insulated cables for power, lighting, control, communication and instrumentation circuits in HMsurface ships and submarines. Incorporates LFH (Limited Fire Hazard) insulation and sheathed for reduced levels of smoke andtoxic fumes in the event of a fire. Suitable for use in fixed or flexible applications where fuel, lubricating oils, hydraulic fluidsand water are present.

• Conductor: Stranded Class 2 tinned copper conductorsto BS EN 60228

• Insulation: Thin-wall LFH (Limited Fire Hazard) insulationto DEF61-12 part 25N.B. Cores shall meet the requirements of DEF61-12part 18 for either category 1 equipment wires

• Pair Identification: Each pair will contain one red and one blue core and shall be identified either by anumbered tape over the individual braid screen, or theblue core in each pair shall be numbered, in a contrastingcolour, with the pair number
