Cable Premieres & ReturnsBelow we look at in depth social data around a few of the most socially engaging premieres and midseason returns of 2012.
For the most part women take a more active role in the social conversa-tions happening around television. Women turned out in heavy numbers for Lifetime’s Dance Moms, ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars and VH1’s Mob Wives premieres. Adult Swim’s Loiter Squad, AMC’s The Walking Dead and HBO’s Game of Thrones won stronger followings among male audiences.
Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Mad Men are a few series with the lowest mobile engagement. Audiences of these programs stuck to the Web when posting their tweets. You’ll notice these shows were the very same that skewed more heavily towards male audiences. Loiter Squad is the notable exception as one of the highest male trending premieres, that also witnessed one of the the highest engagements through mobile. Dance Moms and Mob Wives (show’s popular with women) round out the top three premieres tweeted about through mo-bile devices.
It’s safe to say that people are generally have positive things to say about kids show iCarly on Nick. But it isn’t only G rated content that has fans singing their praises as fans of Mob Wives and Odd Future’s Loiter Squad also tend to provide encouraging feedback.
Nearly all the discussions of Loiter Squad, Mad Men, and Real House-wives are happening while the programs are on air with fans engaging in real time. Alternatively, people tend to talk about iCarly, SpongeBob and The Walking Dead all day long with no particular emphasis on chatting during the show itself.
