Implementing CA SCMM is complex, time consuming and costly


The ProblemOnce SCMM has been installed, the administrator must:

Determine what their environment\life cycle will look like, i.e., number of environments\stages\mapping; customize their Defaults table accordingly

Analyze their existing inventory and determine the types, processors and processor groups they require

Determine the level of access that is to be granted to the different groups that will access the SCMM environment and use that information to configure their External Security Interface table

Allocate the VSAM Package, Element Catalog, ACM and MCF files

Allocate Base and Delta libraries for all systems and types, for each environment and stage

Allocate all processor output datasets for each system, subsystem & type within every environment and stage

Translate JCL, CLIST and other procedures that are currently used to compile and link modules to processors and processor groups

Define their Systems and Subsystems to each environment

Try to make it look just like what they currently have!

The Solution: Rapid Implementation

Rapid Implementation is a series of steps that allow you to perform a standard implementation of CA SCM for Mainframe using a preconfigured environment.

After you gain experience using CA SCM for Mainframe, you can modify, scale, or customize the basic implementation.

OverviewHow Rapid Implementation Works

All components of RI are delivered in two files:• iprfx.iqual.RIJCL contains jobs, VSAM definitions, SCL and

table source modules

• iprfx.iqual.RIPROC contains the processors used for RI

A setup job sets site-specific parameters in the supplied members

Once the setup job has been run, the remaining jobs are ready to be executed to configure the CA SCM for Mainframe environment

Verification is performed using supplied test data to confirm the configured environment is set up properly

The User Must:

Complete the @@UPDJCL Parameters Worksheet Defines site dependent values such as system &

subsystem names, version of COBOL in use, etc., e.g.:o APPL@SYS – Application system name

o APPL@SBS – Application subsystem name

o COB@TYP - COBII or COBLE

o IPRFX – Install HLQ

o IQUAL – Install 2nd qualifier

o Etc.

Verify that the CA SCM for Mainframe libraries are authorized and, preferably, link listed

The User may: (but should wait till later to..)

Secure data sets using the Alternate ID

Set up access security rules using the security interface (ESI)

Edit the @@UPDJCL member to reflect the values selected in the Parameter Worksheet

Submit @@UPDJCL

Execute Primary Implementation Jobs 0010 thru 0200 Allocates all required files

Creates the CA SCM for Mainframe Configuration Tables

Defines the systems, subsystems, types, etc.
