    STATEMENT OF TED W. LIEU

    PARTY PREFERENCE: DEMOCRATIC

UNITED STATES REPRESENTATIVE, 33rd DISTRICT I’m running for my first re-election to Congress because I know from firsthand experience that America is the land of opportunity and a beacon of hope. Working together, we can keep it that way for future generations.

As the child of immigrants, I was taught to value hard work, education, and

giving back to the country that gave us so much. That’s why I served on active duty in the Air Force, and continue to serve in the Reserves, and why I’ve have been proud to serve our community in public office.

Whether on the Torrance City Council, the California State Legislature, or now in the U.S. House of Representatives, I have a proven record of confronting big

challenges and getting results. I helped secure much needed funding for seismic retrofits at the West Los Angeles VA campus and authored a bill that will provide housing for our homeless veterans.

I have taken on powerful special interests by advancing legislation that will replicate California’s landmark climate change laws on a nationwide basis and create good paying jobs. And as one of only four Members of Congress with a

computer science degree, I have worked on a bipartisan basis to increase cyber security and protect privacy rights.

My wife Betty and I are longtime residents of this community. We love living here with our two young sons.

There is more to do. I humbly ask for your vote.

    STATEMENT OF KENNETH W. WRIGHT

    PARTY PREFERENCE: REPUBLICAN

UNITED STATES REPRESENTATIVE, 33rd DISTRICT Kenneth W. Wright, MD

I believe in an America of equal opportunity, freedom and mutual respect. A beautiful America that protects the environment. A strong America, yet an America compassionate enough to help those in need. If elected, I will provide

strong, honest, and forthright citizen leadership for America. As a caring physician and pediatric eye surgeon, I have been devoted to the welfare of children for well over 20 years. I have established a foundation for pediatric ophthalmology and an eye clinic for underprivileged children, along with authoring over 100 scientific articles and the major textbooks in my field. I am not a career politician and have real life leadership experiences both in the public and private sectors. Presently I own and run a successful small business. Internationally, my participation in numerous medical/surgical missions worldwide, including missions to the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Africa, have given me great insight to many varied cultures.

Now, I am running for Congress to work for America. I am determined to unite Americans so we can work together to find real solutions to our challenges such as, creating jobs, revitalizing our inner-cities, improving veterans’ care, and keeping America safe. We can do both, give our citizens the freedom to realize their dreams while also ensuring we care for the less fortunate. Yes this can be done by reducing wasteful spending, bringing manufacturing back and adopting a fair tax code. We must stop decision making based on special interest and party lines.

    STATEMENT OF STEVE FAZIO

    PARTY PREFERENCE: REPUBLICAN

STATE SENATOR, 27th DISTRICT Independent Small Businessman

California’s politicians have failed to create an environment where our economy can grow, we can have good jobs, our children can learn and our families feel safe in their homes.

Companies are leaving California and taking good paying jobs with them. The California Small Business Association and Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association support me because I will use my 35-years of small business experience to bring good jobs to our community.

I have called our district home for five decades – which is why I’m disappointed

to see crime skyrocketing as prisoners are released early onto our streets. As a retired LAPD Reserve Officer for 30-years and a City Fire Commissioner, I have been responsible for hundreds of arrests and ensured local departments are equipped to protect our communities. The California Reserve Peace Officers Association and former District Attorney Steve Cooley endorsed me because I will keep our streets safe.

I served as the Founding President of the Sierra Canyon School, where each year over 1,000 students receive a quality education, which is the basis for a successful career, life and community. I will work hard to provide our kids the first-class education they deserve.

Experience matters, I am the only candidate with real world experience running a small business, creating jobs, keeping the public safe and working to provide quality education to future generations. I will always be accountable to you, not special interest. Call me anytime with any concerns you have: (818) 858-0661.

    STATEMENT OF DAVID POLLOCK

    PARTY PREFERENCE: DEMOCRATIC

STATE SENATOR, 27th DISTRICT As a city councilmember, former school board member, statewide education leader, and small business owner, I’ve been able to make some real progress delivering good public policy, effective government, fiscal responsibility, and timely responses to constituents.

It has been my honor to serve our communities on the Southern California Association of Governments, the California School Boards Association and on five non-profit boards. I have a business background and training, including an MBA degree from UCLA, which allows me to bring a business perspective to everything I do.

Now I’m asking for your support to bring my experience and accountable leadership to Sacramento for you, your family, and your neighbors. As your State Senator, you can count on me to:

    – Raise the quality of education in our schools – Keep tuition at state colleges and universities low, so our students don’t enter

    the workforce overburdened with debt

    – Make sure government works with businesses to create jobs and grow the economy – Safeguard our environment now and for future generations – Ensure health care for all, and address the pressing mental health needs of our

    communities across California

Over twenty years ago, I entered the public arena to fight for our children’s future. With your vote, I will continue that fight in Sacramento for both you and our children as your State Senator.

    STATEMENT OF JERRY KOWAL

    PARTY PREFERENCE: REPUBLICAN

MEMBER OF THE STATE ASSEMBLY, 45th DISTRICT I’m not a career politician, and I never will be! I’ve spent my entire life building a successful business career and raising my family, but after seeing the direction of our state and our community, I have decided to run and represent our district to keep Sacramento accountable.

As your Assemblyman for the 45th

District, I will oppose tax increases and defend the rights of taxpayers, will fight against laws that drive businesses and good paying jobs out of California, will advocate for Education Reform and will work to change laws that allow prisoners to be released onto our streets early, threatening the safety of our families and children.

Also, I will always Protect Prop 13, and keep our property taxes down!

In the 1950s, my parents immigrated to the United States to make a better life. My dad arrived speaking no English, but he went to night school while working as a dishwasher, and learned how to speak the language. Years later, he earned a PhD and taught as a Professor of Economics for over 30 years. The work ethic, discipline and drive that my parents instilled in me have helped me achieve my own American Dream. I want others to have the opportunity to have their own American Dream.

I will always represent our community, and will never take the side of special interests in Sacramento.
