• They are verbs that we use when the subject of a sentence acts upon itself.– (When the subject and the object are the same.)

When the subject acts upon itself…

Not Reflexive

• I wash the car.–Subject: I–Verb: wash–Object: car

Reflexive

• I wash my hands.–Subject: I–Verb: wash–Object: my hands

When you have a reflexive verb, you must use reflexive pronouns.

• When there is only one verb in

the clause, the reflexive
