Frequently asked questions about the re-opening of the Cathedral
for public Masses Q: When will the Cathedral open for Mass with
Congregations? A: The current guidelines of the Archdiocese of
Vancouver based on the recommendations of health authorities, state
that a parish may offer Mass for up to 50 in the congregation if
proper social distancing and sanitizing measures are in place. In
our Eucharistic celebrations, this also involves being able to
offer Communion to those gathered in a safe way. The Cathedral is
currently taking measures to ensure all these measures are in place
before we open for congregational participation. This could happen
in June. The exact date will be posted on the Cathedral website
when available. Q: When the Cathedral opens for small
congregations will Masses be available at the usual times?
A: To ensure that proper cleaning and sanitizing takes places,
initially only one or two Masses will be open to a congregation of
50. For the safety of parishioners, the Archbishop of Vancouver has
decreed that the faithful are dispensed from the obligation of
attending Sunday Mass during this initial reopening phase. Q: When
are the Live-Stream Masses and how do I
tune into it? A: The Cathedral live-streams Sunday Masses at 8
am, 11 am, 6:30 pm (Spanish) and 8 pm and weekday Masses at 7:15
am, 12:10 pm and 5:10 pm. Please go to holyrosarycathedral.org and
click the live-stream button.
Q: How do I sign up to attend a Mass for a small
congregation?
A: Details on this will be available at a later date.
Q: How do I make Sunday Mass Offerings to the Cathedral?

holyrosarycathedral.org. If you would like to set up automatic
weekly donations, please call the cathedral office (604) 682 6774)

T he Catholic Encyclopaedia tells us that this Solemnity of
Trinity Sunday comes from the 14th century. Pope John XXII was
inspired to establish this celebration of our loving union with
each of the three Divine Persons… Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This
is the greatest mystery in the universe: three distinct persons yet
one divine nature.
The mystery is not meant to intimidate us but for us to enter
into through Jesus, who is a divine person with a truly human
nature and a truly divine nature. We share in the life and the love
of the Blessed Trinity. We are invited to express our personal
communion with the Trinity in our relations with our neighbour
through sincere love, which is the foundation of peace, harmony and
right relationship with all people.
There is much to ponder in this mystery of the Blessed Trinity.
That’s why we begin and end many prayers by invoking the heavenly
Father, through Jesus Christ, in unity of the Holy Spirit.
One outcome of our devotion to the Blessed Trinity is a deeper
trust that each of us is personally involved with their life and
their love.
Each of us has some unique part of the work of the Blessed
Trinity. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit trust each of us with this
work and support us in it. This participation gives each of us a
sense of identity, belonging and direction in life. Blessed
Cardinal John Newman put it this way:
“God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has
committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I
have my mission. I may never know it in this life, but I shall be
told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection
between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good;
I shall do His work.
I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own
place, while not intending it if I do but keep His
commandments.
Therefore, I will trust Him, whatever I am, I can never be
thrown away.
If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him, in perplexity,
my perplexity may serve Him. If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve
Him. He does nothing in vain. He knows what He is about. He may
take away my friends. He may throw me among strangers. He may make
me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me.
Still, He knows what He is about.”
Today and everyday let us savour the goodness and depth of the
love of the Blessed Trinity in our little prayer: Glory be to the
Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit...
Fr. Galvon
