How well do you know your neighbor? Do you know what kind of
car they drive? Do they have a dog or a cat? Do you know the
names of their kids?
Jesus talks about loving our neighbors in today's Bible Story, but
when He talks about neighbor, He is not ONLY talking about the
people who live next to us. In fact, when Jesus talks about
loving our neighbors, He means we should be kind and loving to
everyone who crosses our path!
But showing love to everyone, even a stranger, can be tough!
How can we do it? Well, the good news is that we don't have to
do it alone. The Holy Spirit, who is inside us, will help us.

The Good Samaritan
For this hilarious activity, you will need a roll
of toilet paper per child. Make sure you play
in a spacious area with no hard furniture
around.
The game starts with the kids standing with
both arms outstretched to the sides, and
with one end of the toilet paper roll
clenched in one fist. On your count, the kids
have to start spinning so that the toilet
paper unravels and wraps around their
body. Kids must be cautious to not rip the
paper.

Give each child a Love Bingo Card. Shuffle
the Love Cards and place them in a bag or
container.
Draw a Love Card from the stack and read
the card to the children while showing them
the picture on the front.
Invite the kids to draw an “X” over the
picture on their Bingo card that matches the
picture on the Love Card. The first kids to
get “Bingo” – four in a row vertically,
horizontally, or diagonally – are the winners!
In today's Bible Story, we heard about a man that asked
Jesus how he could live forever in Heaven. Jesus told the
man to love God with all of his heart and to love his
neighbor as he loved himself. Do you think Jesus meant
he needed to only love the people that lived next door?
No way! Loving our neighbor doesn't just mean loving the
people next door. It means we love everyone because
we know how much Jesus loves them and how important
they are to Him.
Think about the Samaritan man. Did he show love by
thinking of the traveler OR thinking of himself? (By
thinking of the traveler) Exactly! You see, when we only
think of ourselves, we can get all wrapped up in
selfishness! But God doesn't want that from us, He wants
us to show love and kindness and gentleness to others!
But that is sometimes hard to do! God knows that. And
He loves us so much that He gave us a helper. This
helper is called The Holy Spirit. He comes to live in our
hearts when we give our hearts to Jesus, and He helps us
grow something called The Fruit of the Spirit. When we
have the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives, we can show
others what God's love is like.

assist them in cutting out the puzzle pieces. Hide the puzzle
pieces all around the house or the garden and challenge the kids
to search for all the pieces and assemble the puzzle. Once the
puzzle has been assembled, read the verse together.

TALK IT OVER
Use the questions below to initiate a conversation with your
kids about this week's NEED TO KNOW point.
Jesus told us this story to remind us us WHY it is important to
be kind and to love others like Jesus loves them. This week,
make sure you are showing love to your friends, family,
teachers, and even strangers!
