HISTORY

It was founded in 1913 by International Motorcycling Federation, based in Geneva, Switzerland and has been going ever since

As many as 50 countries and 550 athletes participate in this event

It’s between 683 miles and 838 miles long It’s the Olympics for motorcycle racing. Previously called International Six Day

Trials changed in 1980

STRUCTURE Six days of varied sections Has trails, trials, little road with noise

TRIALS

Tricky dirt biking that requires great control

Riders are penalized for putting down one foot, two feet, and/or not being able to complete a section, etc.

Riders have a staggered start time.

Ride through a set of trails sometimes five laps

Every two days there is a noise test

Rider must go over certain speed and under certain noise

SIGNIFICANCE

Sponsors make thousands of dollars by sponsoring certain countries' teams/individual people

For example if Kawasaki sponsored the US and the US won the ISDE, everyone would want to buy Kawasaki motorcycles thebikerzone.com

SIGNIFICANCE

While there is no exact number it is evident that thousands go to the event each year.

Money maker for the home country because of the surge of people that go there

People go there for vacation(Hotels,tours,etc)

Great tourist attraction and good way to make money

Provides entertainment and can create a sense of nationalism

This coming years ISDE will be held in Germany for the first time in 23 years

The votes were ten to one for Germany ( International Motorcycling Federation)
