North Korea is a commonly know country for men, women, and children trafficked for the purposes of forced labor and sexual exploitation

The most common form of trafficking in North Korean is women and girls who cross the border into China voluntarily because they are most likely looking for a way to escape poor social and economic conditions by the promise of food, jobs, and freedom.

But they are then forced into prostitution, marriage, or exploitative labor arrangements once in China;

Within the country, North Koreans do not have a choice in the work the government assigns them a job and are not free to change jobs at will. There has still been no turning point.
