.................

High on a rock, whose castled shadeDarken'd the lake below,In ancient strength majestic stoodThe towers of Arlinkow.

The fisher in the lake belowDurst never cast his net,Nor ever swallow in its wavesHer passing wings would wet.

The cattle from its ominous banksIn wild alarm would run,Tho' parched with thirst and faint beneathThe summer's scorching sun.

example

This holy day, celebrated on Jan. 6, commemorates two key biblical events: the visit of the wise men to the baby Jesus, and Jesus' baptism by John in the Jordan RiverThe Greek word "epiphaneia" means "appearance" or "manifestation." The wise men's visit means Christ has appeared to the Gentiles (non-Jews) and His baptism means His adult ministry has begun. The "twelve days of Christmas" refers to the span of time from Christmas to Epiphany.
