Research Data shows that there is a trend of increasing obesity among both boys and girls in

year 6 between 2007/08 and 2010/11. In 2011, 53% of obese men and 44% of obese women were found to have high

blood pressure. During 2011-12 there were 11,736 hospital admissions due to obesity – this over 11

times higher than during 2001-02. There has been a increase in obesity rates over the past eight years . In 1993 13%

of men and 16% of women were obese .In 2011 this rose to 24% for men and 26% for women.

Children need to have a healthy balanced diet that gives them enough energy to grow and develop. This means that children usually need to take in more energy than they use and this extra energy forms new tissues as they grow.

According to the World Health Organization, in 2010, there were around 40 million children under the age of five who were overweight worldwide. In the same year, three out of 10 children aged two to 15 were obese in the UK alone.

When your child gets older, or becomes an adult, he or she is more likely to develop health problems if they are obese. These include high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease and stroke, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, some cancers including breast cancer, asthma, liver disease, bone problems, low self-esteem, social discrimination, breathing problems.

In the UK People tend to drive or use public transport and so walk less. Obesity rates in the UK are the highest in Europe and have increased dramatically.

Target audience and what I found from the research

I have found out from the research that children get effected the most because they start at a young age and it gets really bad for them when they’re older. My target audience is parents so that they can give it to their children at a young age so that the children grow up knowing what's right for them and can get into a habit so that when they’re older they wont be making the wrong choices.

My ideaMy idea is that I am going to do a TV commercial because I think that it is a good way to get peoples attention. Also I am going to put up posters up on buses, bus shelters and billboards. The campaign is going to have its own website so that people can go on it to get more information. My advert will be simple and easy to understand and it will have a narrator and have simple music in the background.
