• Leonardo da Vinci (1352-1519) The artist who painted the most famous painting in the world the Mona Lisa, now in Louvre in Paris

• Michelangelo Buonarrot (1475-1564) Artist who sculpted the famous statue of David now in Florence.

• Galileo Galilei (1564- 1642) Scientist who invented the astronomical telescope.

• Mussolini was against the war he didn’t believe in it. Two months after he favored that Italy was in the war. He got drafted into the army soon after that he got injured.

• Benito declared war on socialism and started the Fascist Party. On April of 1919, the fascists got attacked by the socialist rally in Milan. After that hundreds of men got thrown into jail and got released the next day.

• Mussolini became prime minister of Italy in 1922. He restored old and built new statues. Hitler greatly admired the power that he had. Both of the parties was violent. Mussolini got thrown out of power and went into hiding from one place to another. On April 28, 1945, he got executed by gunfire and the next day his body was hung up side down in a public square in Milan.

• In World War I, Italy fought sides with Britain and France. After the war Benito Mussolini became dictator in 1922. Under Benito rule, in 1940 Italy entered World war II on the side with Germany.

• World War II Italy became a republic country. In 1958 Italy had joined France, West Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands and that formed the European Economic Community.

• Rome was founded in 753 B.C. The Romans went on the conquered most of Europe, Italy became the center of the vast empire.

• Italy was getting divided into small states. They were divided into French, Spanish, Arabs, and Austrians. The small states tried to conquer Italy for themselves.

• In the fifth century A.D the northern Europe invaded Italy, and the Roman Empire fell.

• Venice is a beautiful country, it is sometimes called City in the sea. Venice has 400 bridges tied to the sea. People get around in Gondolas. Venice has many museums.

• The Saint of Venice is Saint Mark. The first international film festival was held in Venice in 1932, it is still going on annually today.

• Venice did not exist during the Roman empire. By 1100, it became a city state. Venice was given to Austria until 1866, when Austria was defeated, Venice became part of Italy

• Rush hour begins about 8:00 am. Workers and office people take the water-bus down to the Grand Canal. Venetians usually take a midday break.

• The schools in Venice are from 8am to 1pm. The rest of the day can be for homework, fun or work. The businesses in Venice usually close for about 2 hours to rest in the afternoon.

• The Lido is a famous beach. Many Venetian families spend their summers there.

• I picked this country because I am Italian. There are so many interesting things about Italy.

• It was fun to see where my Grandparents came from, Sicily and Catanzaro

• I learned how beautiful a country it is. I couldn’t believe how mountainous Italy is. I also found out it is faster to take the Train then to drive when going far.

• If I were to change Italy, I would have it that the Italians would like Americans more than they do.

• Yes in a moment. It is so beautiful my cousin is in Milan going to school and wishes he could live there forever. I think I could get use to all the good food.
