  • Slide 3
  • In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf. That was me!!
  • Slide 4
  • As a middle child, I became both a learner and a teacher from an early age.
  • Slide 5
  • Constantly trying to keep up with my big sister was my motivation to learn. Whatever she could do, I decided I could do too. This led me to become a very persistent learner.
  • Slide 6
  • When I became an older sister, I also became a role model and teacher to my two little sisters.
  • Slide 7
  • My passion for learning carried on throughout high school, and led me to continue my education by attending university.
  • Slide 8
  • During my time at University of Kings College, I explored many disciplines to try and find what inspired and fulfilled me. After taking the Foundation Year Programme, I was still hungry.
  • Slide 9
  • I tried English and Philosophy, but I was still hungry.
  • Slide 10
  • I tried French and Contemporary Studies,
  • Slide 11
  • Finally, I tried Psychology and History of Science & Technology, which I loved and graduated in with a B.Sci., but, I was still hungry.
  • Slide 12
  • Reflecting back on my degree, I realized that most of the psychology classes I felt connected to and interested in involved children and their development. But, I was still kind of hungry.
  • Slide 13
  • Last year I coached an under 8 girls soccer team. It was the highlight of my summer. On our last night, I had a stomachache.
  • Slide 14
  • The following fall, inspired by my experience being a sister, psychology student, and soccer coach, I decided to apply to a B.Ed. program. And after that, I felt much better.
  • Slide 15
  • Now I wasnt hungry anymore, and I wasnt a little learner anymore I was entering the teaching profession!
  • Slide 16
  • I decided to attend Acadia university, spending my time in a small house called a cocoon (AKA the B.Ed. department) where I plan to stay inside for 16 months.
  • Slide 17
  • I chose to go into the teaching profession after realizing my passion and curiosity in both teaching and learning, and my desire to help children, however I can.
  • Slide 18
  • My goals as an educator will be to help children find inspiration and motivation in learning (specifically in literacy development!), to help children grow and learn through their mistakes, and have fun while doing so.
  • Slide 19
  • My patience, kindness, organization, respectfulness, and responsibility are all qualities that I have today, and which I hope to grow while spending all this time in the cocoon!
  • Slide 20
  • So that eventually, when I nibble a hole in the cocoon, and push my way out
  • Slide 21
  • I will be a creative, respectful, and open-minded teacher who can make a difference in her students lives!
  • Slide 22
  • Special thanks to Eric Carle for writing and illustrating the first book I ever learned to read or memorize.

  • This Powerpoint was created for my Self as Teacher presentation in Connecting with the Classroom. It was modified to suit this Apps assignment. This powerpoint was created from scratch. Inserted my own text boxes when applicable. I inserted graphics using photos I found on Google images. The slides all move onto the screen using the same Wipe Left transitions. Modifications: Used slide sorter view to pick which slides to hide. Inserted an audio clip to read the title page on a click. I added an effect to all the text throughout the powerpoint. I hid slides 16, 17, and 18 because I thought they were not relevant enough to have available on my eportfolio.
