There has been a terrible attack on Daneland! They plead for help! King Hrothgar has been terrorized for 12 long winters! Any warrior brave enough will be given prizes for removing the evil beast, Grendel!

You Have A Choice:Go To Daneland Stay Home

You Chose To Go!Wait a minute! You can’t just run off

like that! You need to gather companions who will follow the great

Beowulf! Also, you need supplies, weapons, armor, and a boat!

You Chose To Stay!

Apparently you are not brave enough to take on Grendel.

You Are On The Boat!

You can see Daneland just ahead! *Crunch* Your boat hits the sandy

shore and you see a man on horseback.

What do you do?

Yell a friendly, “Hello!” Threaten the manDock The Boat and Ignore His Existence!

Continue With Your Journey!

Even though ignoring someone is rude, one of your friends inform the man of your business. The guard happily guides you along the rocky path to the palace, though he glances back at you with a funny expression on his face. You reach the beautiful palace. It has the right amount of moss on it to make it seem so majestic. The stone architecture takes your breath away. How could a demon haunt this place?

Yell Hello!

He sees you and comes to the shore! “Hello, who are you and what is your business?” he says. “We are Geats and we come to rid your kingdom from the evil demon of night!” you reply. The man’s eyes widen a little and gestures for you to follow him to Hrothgar.

You Threaten Him

“Get us to your kingdom now or else we will attack!” The coast guard draws his sword, “Get off this shore! You have made enemies with the son of Scyld!” You have no other choice than to end your journey.

Hrothgar sits on his throne at the end of the long room. He looks exhausted. “Beowulf! Have you come to help vanquish the plague that has been terrorizing my kingdom?”

What do you say?

No I’ll Get Killed! I will fight will 30 men strength

If you came all this way and then turn back for nothing, the Wielder is disgusted by you! No hero would give up just because he might be killed!

You Fight!

Nothing can shake you! Hrothgar throws a banquet for your bravery! You will sleep in Heorot tonight and wait for Grendel’s appearance. For now, you are at a party so…

You have a choice:End the party early. Stay up and have fun!

End Early

You should get some sleep. No one knows when Grendel may come, so get as much sleep as possible! Though your friends are nervous, they will follow you to the end. They should be rested as well.

This party is way too good to end early, so you should enjoy it while you can! There is plenty of food you don’t want to miss out on and these Danes know how to celebrate! The pipe player plays melodic tunes, and the scop tells tales of past heroes! Soon Hrothgar retires and you realize how tired you actually are. The rest of your men are sleepy as well, but at least they had a good time.

The Battle

Fiery fingers fold over your hand and slowly lift you upwards, then your body, and soon you are half-way in the air. Instinctively your free hand latches on to Grendel. It is either his life or yours, so you intend on winning. The two of you hand-grapple, but you are weaker. You are very tired from the party since you have stayed up late. Why would you do that? You struggle, but you hands are weak against his. Everything goes black.

Your soul leaves your dead body, and as you float to the Heavens, you no longer see your

body. It has been devoured by Grendel, as well as the rest of your companions. They would have never stood a chance against him. They

were never strong enough, and weapons could never pierce the demon’s flesh.

Beowulf and his 14 Geat companions had died due to the hands of Grendel.

The Geat kingdom looks into their cause of death, though Hrothgar says they seemed fine when they stayed up late before the party. The Danes are

sure to be conquered, and their kingdom will be gone.

To Beginning

The Battle

Flaming fingers wrap around your arm, slowly and steadily lifting you higher and higher. Grendel has entered Heorot, and you are his victim. Your free hand latches itself to him and you two hand-grapple a life or death battle. Grendel is nervous, you are unrelenting, and soon his scaly skin severs, a sickening noise. His arm becomes limp and a bloody demon flees Heorot, little life left.

You Have Won!The Next Morning

The Next Morning…

Hrothgar enters Heorot. He is followed by Danes that were awoken by the screams and noises of

the bloody battle. “Well done, Beowulf!” Hrothgar says as he takes in the bloody ground. Danes from far and near come to Heorot to celebrate. A banquet will be

held in your name! You are the savior of Daneland!

Go to the Party!

Your Banquet!

You arrive at Heorot, now lively with talking, music, and laughter. Everyone cheers as you

walk in. Hrothgar begins his storm of gifts. He presents you with gold, lots of it, golden armor,

rings, necklaces, beautiful swords, bracelets, and gems. Heirlooms are presented to your friends,

and the one who died is paid for in gold. The banquet is filled with rich food, music, and

treasure.

That Night…

What a joyous party, those Danes know how to give gifts! You have so many presents, some of your companions are worried if they are all going to fit on the boat. That’s something to worry about later though, but for now, you’re tired and need some rest. So you all get ready for bed, not knowing of the unfortunate events that will be taking place at mid-slumber…

Abrupt Awakening

Æschere has been kidnapped by Grendel’s mother. She came in the middle of the night to avenge her son, so she took the one closest to

Hrothgar’s heart, his liegeman. You Have A Choice:

Continue Your AdventureYou decide to fight the mother of darkness, but be warned, she is stronger than Grendel. You, your 12 companions, and a search party of Danes venture

into the moor fens. You encounter a gory, red, lake, surrounded by serpents and sea drakes. Hrothgar

gasps as his eyes rest on the disturbing site of Æschere’s decapitated head.

It is very upsetting that you have refused to fight Grendel’s mother, showing that you only came for the treasure. You load your small boat with the jewels and head home to Geatland. How will you tell Higelac that you are a coward that only loves gold?

Grendel has been vanquished by the “hero”, Beowulf! He has saved Daneland, but decided that his one victory is all they would need. Shortly after Grendel was murdered, his mother came for revenge. She killed a Dane in a fit of anger and decapitated the beloved Æschere. Beowulf decided that the mother of darkness was the Dane’s problem, so he headed home to Higelac to fill his head with lies.

You must love cliffhangers! What Anglo-Saxon says yes to venturing all the way out into these swamps, just to turn back? Nice job Beowulf, should of left before you made a fool out of yourself.

Sacrifice!

You are apparently too important to take on this mother demon, so the second strongest man in your group will go for you. He dives into the murky waters, and a day later, blood boils to the top. He might’ve slayed the mother, but after the blood, follows his head.

There is no choice but for you to either:Turn Back or Dive Down

Dive Into The Waters

The snakes are easy to kill with a sword, so you prepare your armor, make your final requests for

your companions, and dive into the bloody water. It takes you one full day to reach the

bottom. To your surprise, strong hands wrap around you. You are dragged into a cave, with

strange creatures biting and tearing at you. Thank God for this armor!

Grendel’s MotherHer fiery eyes bore into your soul. You feel every piece of her sadness and anger. Grendel’s Mother drags you into her cave. She claws at you, but your armor protects your skin. You tackle her, but she knocks you down and sits on your chest. Unferth has given you his sword, and you attempt to stab her. The sword deflects off of her scales. No wonder, it’s Unferth’s. She takes out her own knife, but the armor protects your bone cage from the blow.

The Battle, Continued

You manage to free yourself from her reach. Out of the corner of your eye, you see a giant sword. It calls to you. You grab it, and as the

mother of evil charges, you slash her neck and she falls.

You Have Killed Her

Your Treasure

The sword is a beautiful work of metals, but sadly it melts from the acidic blood. All that is left is the hilt. It has ancient scriptures of the past. From the piles of gems, you also spot Grendel, but his eyes are distant and dead. You decapitate him with your own sword, and embark to the surface.

A day later you reach land.

To Heorot

“Beowulf! We thought you were dead! Weird is with you!” They admire the craftsmanship and detailed scriptures etched into the silver of the sword’s hilt. You drag Grendel’s head above the water and all 12 recoil. One takes out a spear, and 4 of them have to help carry the head to

Heorot.

Hrothgar’s Reaction

“Beowulf! You’re alive! How? And what is that?” Questions flow from his mouth and you quietly wait for him to finish. “How did you do it?”

What do you say?It was my strength! Weird was with me!

It Was All Me!

“Oh it was nothing! So, I dove into the water, infested with sea serpents, until the mother of darkness grabbed me! She dragged me into her cave, but I was able to free myself. No sword would bite her skin, except for a magnificent sword, made for giants. I took hold of the sword and slashed , and there she fell. I had killed her!” Hrothgar was very grateful. “And now the presents!”

Weird Was With Me!

“I dove into the water, and darkness grabbed me! I was dragged to a cave and there Grendel’s Mother slashed at me. God permitted me armor that could withstand her claws. The sword I used was not permitted by the Lord.” Unferth gave you an accusing glare. “Yet The Wielder allowed giant sword, only I could lift the metal. I grasped the hilt I present to you, and swung at her neck. The blow was fatal, and so she fell.”

Rest After Battles

You are very tired after slaying the mother of evil. Hrothgar does present you with some more gold and few jewels. You are too tired to attend a big banquet. Tomorrow will be your last day though, so your boat will be ready for you.

Good Night Beowulf!

Your Last Day

Rise and shine! The Danes are sad to see you leave. This place is so generous. You are now rich. You can live like a king, possibly be a Dane king!

You go to see Hrothgar. “Beowulf, why must you leave?” Tears swell up in his eyes, “You have brought this land great pride and glee, it would be no issue for you to stay. You are my bairn, you know.” The gift is tempting, but you have made your choice.

Geatland needs a hero to serve by King Higelac’s side.

The Long Boring History

You include every single detail to the story. When you begun, Higelac was very enthusiastic, but an hour an a half later, he seems to get really bored. Not the best choice. You even present the gifts after the tale, but include the histories of every artifact in the pile! Beautiful!
