Description of Lesson O Topic: Creating Radio Talk Show Using Audacity about
pros and cons of technology.O Technology Used: Computer, Audacity Program,
Microphone, Headphones, Internet O # of Students: 26O Activities Included: Writing a script in Word and
using the Audacity Program to record, edit, import, change the format from AUP to MP3.
O Include Problem solving strategies: Groups must assign what rolls each student will play as they create a 5 min. podcast on the topic of the pros and cons of technology.
O Assessments: Used survey monkey for pre and post test.

desktop computers, microphones, and Audacity program
O List its capabilities-Records, edits, imports music, exports to MP3
O List its limitations-You need headphones, microphone, some space to spread out, and no video capabilities.

O Have student’s select roles that they would excel at. Example: Speaking, Non-Speaking, Editing, Music, and writing the script.

O Student’s are blocked from inappropriate web-sites and restricted to download.
O We teach our kids to site any source that they use from the internet.

O This lesson meets the technology standards and meets our middle school technology curriculum.
Communication/Technology Special communication and technology skills are needed for success in schooling and in the workplace. Students will be able to express information and ideas using a variety of technologies in various ways. Academic Expectations 1.16 Students use computers and other kinds of technology to collect, organize, and communicate information and ideas. 2.37 Students demonstrate skills and work habits that lead to success in future schooling and work.
