The Edmund Fitzgerald

The SS Edmund Fitzgerald was an American cargo ship. Carrying iron ore one winter evening in November of 1975, the Edmund Fitzgerald sank in a storm while crossing Lake Superior. Twenty-nine men, including Captain Ernest McSorely, died when the ship sank. The sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald was the saddest maritime disaster in American history. Everyone should remember the heroes who died on board.
