Lake ErieLast summer my family finally got to go to our cottage next to Lake Erie, we can’t normally because it’s always rented out, but now that my mom has a new job, we can finally go! The thing we most looked forward to was the fishing. My dad, and my older brother Nick and I always loved the fishing. We never catch much, but now we were ready to catch sheepsheads, perch, and even bass!

SheepsheadThe best part of all was that my little brother didn’t want to come. It was about noon when we set off, and it was at least 95 degrees out. We have an inflatable boat, which makes it hard to get off the beach. After we set out, we checked to see if we were drifting, we didn’t notice anything unusual, so we started fishing. I was on fire, after the first two minutes I caught a sheepshead, and quickly caught two more.

Bass My dad didn’t really love the sheepsheads because they’re really ugly fish. My older brother was having a hard time though. He had at least fifty bites, but not one fish. When we were about to set off he felt a huge tug on his line, and it even moved our boat! When it got close the most amazing thing happened, it jumped out of the water. As it happened, time slowed down just enough to give me a good look at the magnificent beast. It was a smallmouth bass, we could tell from its green skin speckled with black, and it had a normal sized head, giving off the ‘smallmouth’ part.

DinnerIt took about five minutes to catch it. It was then we noticed that we

drifted past the freighter line. It took forever to get home. As we got on the beach my mom asked “Did you catch anything?”

We all simultaneously replied, “Dinner.”
