Bulgaria has a unique geographical position. My country is situated in the

remote southeast corner of Europe – the Balkan Peninsula. It has been a full member of NATO and the European

Union.

Bulgaria occupies a unique and strategically important geographical

location. Since ancient times, the country has served as a major

crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa.

The Balkan Peninsula

It borders five other countries: Romania to the north, Serbia and the Republic of Macedonia to the west,

and Greece and Turkey to the south. The Black Sea defines the extent of

the country to the east.

Bulgaria is the first Slavic country which Adopted the Cyrillic Alphabet.


Saints Cyril and Methodius were two Byzantine Greek brothers who became missionaries of Christianity among the Slavs. They invented the Slavic Alphabet and introduced in the Bulgarian State.

traditions are mummery, pottery-making, wood-carving and fire-dancing. Fire-dancing

is called nestinarstvo one of the most mysterious phenomena in Bulgarian history

and folklore.

young girls on a hot embers barefooted.

On the 1st of March Bulgarian people celebrate a traditional holiday called Baba

Marta and it is related to welcoming the approaching spring.


Bulgarian yoghurt


Bulgaria is the motherland of yoghurt. The yoghurt is a traditional Bulgarian

product. It has kept its traditional taste since ancient times. It is made of milk

and yeast. The products of yoghurt are cheese, kashkaval, butter and curds.

Banitsa - It can be made with spinach or green onion.


Shopska salad is Bulgaria's most famous salad.


Bob chorba - the name translates to "bean soup".
