FIFA World Cup
✎ The FIFA World Cup is an international competition against other national teams.
✎ Tournaments take place after every four consecutive years.
✎ The most memorable match was Brazil vs. Sweden in World Cup 1958.
✎ There were four groups of four teams.
✎ The finals were Brazil and Sweden.
✎ The finals took place in Rasunda Stadium, Sweden on July 29th.
Introduction
✎ The finalists of the World Cup in 1958 were Sweden and Brazil.
✎ Brazil won their first World Cup title.
✎ The score was 5-2.
✎ Vava, one of Brazilian players, scored a goal in nine minutes into the game. Then Mario Zagello scored another goal in 32 minutes.
✎ Pele scored a hat trick, which is another name for three consecutive goals.
Brazil vs. Sweden
✎ Manager Vincente Feola decided to use the 4-2-4 football formation.
✎ This system allowed enough players to block opponents.
✎ Garrincha, Didi, Vava, Pele and Zagello were attack and Zito and Peranha were midfield.
✎ It also enables the team to counter attack quickly without exposing the goal.
Goal Sequence
✎ With Brazil up by 2-1 in the first half, Pele received a high pass with his back from Garrincha, a midfielder. Two Swedish defenders surrounded and marked him.
✎ He deadened the ball with his thigh, dropped it to his foot, popped it high in the air and shot it straight past into the goal.

The Third Goal
✎ The opponents could have prevented the goal by:
✎ Following the 4-2-4 football formation like Brazil. In that way, there would be enough defenders when the attackers come.
✎ Players like the defending midfielders and wingers should have reacted faster.
Better Defense
✎ Pele: The 17-year-old was known for his amazing dribbling and passing, his pace, powerful shots, extraordinary headings, and perfect goal scoring.
✎ Vava: He is considered one of the best strikers. His only role as center forward was to score goals.
✎ Other best players were Zagello, Didi and Garrincha, who also played as attack in the finals.
