Introductory Letter from Dr. Albert Lucas
Dear Friend,
My name is Dr. Albert Lucas, and I have been creating spectacular smiles since 1994. I
have known since I was very young that I wanted to become an Orthodontist. As a child,
I had friends whose parents were Orthodontists, and I always thought they had such a
calming, thoughtful demeanor which made me feel comfortable. At Lucas Orthodontics,
we strive to create that same atmosphere for you. We take great pride in providing
friendly, effective, and extraordinary care.
To help in your search for an orthodontist, I have put together this report, “The Top 10
Things You Should Know Before Choosing An Orthodontist.” In it, you will find the most
necessary principles and aspects expected of an orthodontist, as well as his or her staff.
You may find an orthodontist that meets some of these
standards, but I encourage you to find an orthodontist that
meets all of them!
Ultimately, my goal is to make sure you feel comfortable with
the choice of treatment, the orthodontist and the entire staff.
Make sure to read this report, as you should always feel at
ease asking your orthodontist any of the questions we have
included in here.
All the best,
Dr. Lucas Albert
P.S. When you are ready, call 943.432.7223 to schedule your complimentary Lucas
Orthodontics Smile Analysis, which includes a comprehensive exam, personalized
consultation, and even x-rays (a $249 value) - entirely free with your $249 Savings
Certificate!
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 4
1 ARE THEY A SPECIALIST?
Orthodontists are specially trained dentists with several extra years of training in order to
correct alignment of the teeth and jaws, usually by applying pressure through the use of
braces. You could say that they specialize in creating smiles. All orthodontists are dentists,
but only 6% of dentists are orthodontists. Look for the seal of the American Association
of Orthodontists (AAO). Only orthodontic specialists can belong to the AAO.
One sign of a great specialist is that they can show you a before and after of a similar
case to yours that they have previously helped. We know all mouths are different, but in
the 15,000+ lives and smiles we have transformed since 1994, we can show you a similar
case with spectacular results!
Dr. Lucas and the team at Lucas Orthodontics specialize in
treating any and ALL orhtodontic cases, regardless of difficulty.
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 5
2 DO THEY PROVIDE THE FIRST VISIT
FREE OF CHARGE?
Most orthodontists offer new patients a complimentary examination and consultation so
that you and your family can get expert advice about treatment needs, options, and timing
before making this important investment.
During your first exam, make sure all of your questions are being answered, concerns
addressed, and that you are being educated about all of your treatment options. The
orthodontist should also include digital x-rays during the first exam at no charge.
At Lucas Orthodontics, your first exam is completely complimentary with your $250
Savings Certificate. Your Lucas Orthodontics Smile Analysis includes exam, consultation,
digital x-rays and more!
With the Lucas Orthodontics Smile Analysis, you will receive the
initial exam, consultation, x-rays and all the necessary
diagnostics and measurements, a $250 value – completely free!
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 6
3 ARE THEY WILLING TO EXPLAIN THEIR
RECOMMENDATIONS?
Some orthodontists will simply provide you with a single treatment option, without
conversation. They will push a product on you without explanation or options of anything
else. If at any time, your orthodontist is unwilling to explain his or her recommendation,
or seems pushy about a particular treatment option, you should seek a second opinion.
Dr. Lucas at Lucas Orthodontics is not only willing to explain his recommendations; he
truly wants you to feel confident and understand your treatment decision. The benefits of
each treatment option available will be gladly explained, along with why any specific
treatment may yield better or faster results. You should know that your treatment is
ultimately your decision; however we are happy to provide expertise to help you make an
educated decision.
Dr. Lucas wants you to understand your case and
treatment options, so that, together, you can
make the decision for what treatment solution is best for you.
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 7
4 DOES THEIR QUOTED FEE INCLUDE
RETAINERS?
Every orthodontic office has its own fee schedule, and doctors often charge differently for
certain procedures. Always make sure your contract clearly states ALL expenses for your
treatment before it begins. It is important to know exactly what you will be paying, and
exactly what it covers.
It is common to find out about retainer fees towards the end of your treatment. Since
you are reading this report, you now know to ask your orthodontist about what a retainer
will cost.
Also, make sure to ask your orthodontist to provide you or your child with an extra
retainer. This way, if it gets lost or broken, you have a backup one to use while the
orthodontist makes a new one.
At Lucas Orthodontics, you won’t experience surprise items in
your billing or unexcpected fees. We break down the cost for
your before you make your decision.
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 8
5 DO THEY TREAT ADULTS?
Orthodontics is not just for kids! It is extremely important that your orthodontist
recognizes this fact and they are willing to treat patients of all ages.
In fact, at Lucas Orthodontics, 20% of our patients are adults. Our adult patients are
discovering for themselves how a transformed attractive smile can improve both their
health, and the way they feel about themselves. Others are choosing to have treatment
to avoid problems with their bite often associated with crooked teeth.
Whether you prefer speed, invisibility, or traditional treatment,
you’ll have options at Lucas Orthodontics!
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 9
6 DO THEY HAVE A GREAT
REPUTATION?
Ideally, you should find an orthodontist with a longstanding and excellent reputation.
Using the Internet today, it is easy to see ratings and reviews from actual patients. Simply
go to Google, and search for orthodontist ratings and reviews within your community.
At the time of this report, you will see that Lucas Orthodontics has many reviews on
Google, Yelp, Demandforce, Healthgrades, and Facebook, all with 5-star ratings.
Another factor in determining an orthodontist’s reputation is whether or not they are a
member of the Better Business Bureau. Being a member of the BBB shows you that the
orthodontist takes pride in committing to great customer service and excellent treatment.
At Lucas Orthodontics, we have been A+ rated by the BBB for many years.
With Lucas Orthodontics, you can be rest assured that your
experience with us will be one to remember!
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 10
7 DO THEY MAKE YOU FEEL SPECIAL
AND COMFORTABLE?
When reviewing Orthodontists, you’ve probably found yourself wondering what kind of
atmosphere or environment the office has. This varies from one practice to another and
also depends on the orthodontist’s personal preferences.
At Lucas Orthodontics, not only do we commit to making you feel comfortable, we go
above and beyond to ensure you have the best possible experience every time you visit.
Upon arriving at your appointment, you will be treated in your own personal clinical suite.
Your confidentiality and privacy is just as important as your comfort. As a further step,
all family members are welcome into the suite before, during and after the appointment.
Your experience at Lucas Orthodontics will be professional and fun. As a patient of Lucas
Orthodontics, you will get to experience contests where you can win awesome prizes like
tickets to Miami Heat games and other events. Be sure to visit us on Facebook to stay
updated.
The friendly team at Lucas Orthodontics will do anything and
everything they can to ensure you feel comfortable and special.
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 11
8 DO THEY OFFER GUARANTEES? IF SO,
WHAT ARE THEY?
A great orthodontist will stand behind their treatment, and the best way to do that is with
a guarantee. Orthodontists should offer a solid guarantee to make sure you know that
you come first no matter what. Your satisfaction and health are of the utmost importance.
Here, your smile is backed by the Lucas 100% Lifetime Satisfaction Guarantee. We stand
behind our treatment even if a retainer is not worn.
Dr. Lucas and Lucas Orthodontics
wants you to feel confident about your choice in treatment from
the moment you get your braces on until even 20 or 30 years
later.
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 12
9 DO THEY KEEP UP WITH THE LATEST
TECHNOLOGY?
Orthodontics is a lot different today than in the years past. Computer-designed braces and
wires dramatically increase the precision in which teeth are moved. Clear braces offer a
cosmetically pleasing alternative, while Invisalign® offers patients an entirely brace-free
option.
Lucas Orthodontists offers several of these advanced treatmnt options, including Invisalign
and Invisalign Teen. We can make your dream of having a new smile come to life, and
without any metal! Dr. Lucas is a certified Invisalign orthodontist, giving patients a
“clearly” effective and incredibly comfortable way to wear braces!
Dr. Lucas and Lucas Orthodontics stay up-to-date with the latest
in orthodontic technological advancements.
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 13
10 WILL YOU BE CHARGED FOR
EMERGENCY CARE?
Sometimes, minor discomfort can occur with braces. Orthodontists typically provide
adjustments for poking wires and loose appliances free of charge. At Lucas Orthodontics
we do provide these types of adjustments free of charge, but it is definitely recommended
that you ask about adjustments and potential costs with your orthodontist before you
begin treatment.
Please note that if your braces become broken or damaged due to non-compliance with
dietary restrictions, this could result in repair charges.
With Lucas Orthodontics, if you do your best to avoid breaking your braces and follow the
simple dietary guidelines (which we will go over with you) then there should be no
additional charges for adjustments throughout your treatment, even if it’s an emergency.
You should expect that general wear and tear will not cost your
extra for emergency care.
10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST 14
BONUS DO THEY HAVE FLEXIBLE PAYMENT
OPTIONS?
We realize this report is supposed to be the “Top 10 Things You Must Know Before
Choosing Your Orthodontist,” but we just couldn’t leave out some important payment tips
to look for when choosing an orthodontist.
Once you have chosen an orthodontist you are comfortable with and know which
orthodontist you want to treat you or your child, the next question will be: “How much is
this going to cost and how am I going to pay for this?”
At Lucas Orthodontics, we are here to help you understand the different payment options
from maximizing the most of your insurance benefits to flex spending accounts to even
interest-free payment plans. During your initial complimentary examination and
consultation, all of your questions will be answered, including those about the typical cost
of braces and the variety of payment options available.
Having flexible payment plans are and helping with insurance is
critical to making treatment affordable.
