For Years 7-9

Henry Hoey Hobson by Christine Bongers

Twelve- year- old Henry Hoey Hobson arrives at his sixth school, Our Lady of Perpetual

Succour, to discover he's the only boy in Year Seven. Friendless, fatherless and non-

Catholic, Henry is not only a Perpetual Sucker, but a bloodsucker, according to his catty

classmates. When he's caught moving a coffin into the creepy house next door, it drives a

stake through the heart of his hopes of fitting in. His only chance to fight back is the

school swimming carnival - sink or swim in the treacherous waters of Year Seven.

High Stakes by Meg Cabot

Suze's new life in California is looking up. Cool friends, pool parties, good-hair days, plus

the gorgeous ghost, Jesse, who hangs out in her bedroom. Best of all Tad, the cutest

(live) boy in town, just asked her out! Then a screaming spirit wakes Suze in the middle of

the night with a very important message. Suddenly she's on the trail of a creepy local

businessman, who might or might not be a vampire. Oh, and who also happens to be

Tad's dad. Suze's life just got dead complicated - again.

Insatiable by Meg Cabot

Sick of hearing about vampires? So is Meena Harper. Meena Harper

is familiar with the supernatural. After all, she knows how you're

going to die. While she's always been able to see everyone else's

destiny, she's never been able to look into her own. Maybe that's

why when she meets Lucien Antonescu - a modern day prince who

also has no destiny that she can foresee - she's instantly attracted.

When an ancient society of vampire hunters shows up at Meena's

door looking for Lucien, she's forced to face the truth: that her

dream boyfriend might turn out to be more of a nightmare. There is

a sequel Overbite with further adventures of Meena Harper.

Phredde and the Leopard-skin Librarian: A Story to Eat with a Dinosaur Apple

by Jackie French

A school excursion to the Big Koala goes horribly wrong as Phredde, Pru, Bruce and their

teacher, Mrs Olsen, (who also happens to be a vampire) and librarian, Miss Richards,

(who also happens to be a martial arts expert) head back into the time of the

dinosaurs. What they encounter is not for the faint-hearted, and includes giant marsupial

lions, a dinosaur with diarrhoea and an exploding volcano. Who will save them? Can one

kid, two fairies, a vampire and a librarian survive in the past with just a laptop computer,

a flying carpet and a plastic spoon? Will Pru's werewolf brother ever get his girlfriend

back? Can Pru get the dinosaur doo stains out of her tracksuit pants? And what - or who -

is the Demon Duck of Doom?

The Reformed Vampire Support Group by Catherine Jinks

Nina became a vampire in 1973, when she was fifteen, and she

hasn't aged a day since then. She hasn't had any fun either,

because her life is so sickly and boring. It becomes even worse

when one of the other vampires in her therapy group is staked by a

mysterious slayer. Threatened with extinction, she and her fellow

vampires decide to hunt down the culprit. Trouble is, they soon find

themselves up against some gun-toting werewolf traffickers who'll

stop at nothing. Can a bunch of feeble couch potatoes win a fight

like this? Is there more to your average vampire than meets the

eye?

Kisses from Hell

This irresistible collection features stories of love amid vampires. From a fugitive vampire

forced to trust a boy who might work for the group bent on destroying her, to the

legendary romance of two immortals whose love compels them to risk everything, this

heart pounding collection brings new meaning to the words 'love you forever.

Team Human by Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan

to their own kind, and Mel and her friends hang out with other

humans - until a vampire boy in a bizarre sun-proof suit shows up at

school and captures Cathy's heart. Can Mel convince Cathy that life

with a vampire is no life at all? Should she?

Dangerous Girls by R.L. Stine

Destiny Weller and her twin sister, Livvy, return from their summer

vacation with an overpowering thirst - an inhuman desire to drink

blood. Have they turned into vampires? How will they keep their

horrifying secret from their family and friends? And can they find a way to become human

terrors of the worlds of both the living and the dead? Then

there are things like ghouls that aren't really one thing or the

other.

winter snows.

Werewolf in a Winter Wonderland by Carolyn Keene

Things are hairy in River Heights this holiday season. Two wolves

have disappeared from Wild Wolf, the federal wolf preserve just

outside of town. Local farmers think the missing wolves are

killing their sheep, but there are also rumours of werewolf

sightings nearby. At the same time, the annual River Heights

Winter Carnival is set to begin. When the first two days of the

outdoor festival are full of tragic disasters, Nancy can't help but

wonder - is there a link between the carnival's trouble and the

missing wolves? After the carnival's beautiful ice palace is

destroyed, Nancy's sure there's a wolf at River Height's door. But

is the leader of this pack of crimes human, or beast?

Spyforce Revealed by Deborah Abela

As Max looked at the shiny metal blades that sliced ever closer, she wondered how she

was going to foil Mr Blue's latest scheme to turn the world's children into zombies.

Working undercover as a taste tester at a sweet factory seemed like the dream job, but it

had turned into a deadly struggle against an evil mastermind. And now that one of her

friends had turned against her, certain doom seemed only seconds away. Can Max and

Linden once again outsmart Mr Blue? Or will they be too late and fall victim to his sickly-

sweet plans? Could this be the end of Max Remy, Superspy?

The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks

If you have a kid who talks about the coming of the zombie

apocalypse like it’s an absolute certainty, they have to read this

book. This survival guide takes its premise very, very seriously.

Brooks is an expert in disaster response and preparedness (he’s

lectured around the globe) and he very calmly and very rationally

breaks down exactly what you’d actually want to do if a zombie

plague started spreading across the world. This will scare the

pants off some kids and other kids will think it’s the coolest

thing they’ve ever read.

Disney Zombies

Welcome to Seabrook, a suburban town preoccupied with uniformity, traditions and pep

rallies. That is until one ground breaking semester when students from Zombietown

integrate into Seabrook High School! As the human and zombie students struggle to

The Enemy Series by Charlie Higson

The Enemy, The Dead, The Fear, The Sacrifice, The Hunted. The

Fallen, The End

When the sickness came, every parent, police officer, politician -

every adult - fell ill. The lucky ones died. The others are crazed,

confused and hungry. Only children under fourteen remain, and

they're fighting to survive. Now there are rumours of a safe place

to hide. So, a gang of children begin their quest across London,

where all through the city - down alleyways, in deserted houses,

underground - the zombie grown-ups lie in wait. Can they make it

there - alive?

The Night Bus by Anthony Horowitz

Nick and Jeremy are on a night bus at Halloween, but the other scarred and rotting

passengers aren't trick-or-treaters! When his dad picks up a hitchhiker, Jacob finds

himself in a life or death situation. Someone is harbouring a deadly secret. Who is the

man with the yellow face in Peter's passport photo - because it isn't him... is it? Three

stories of the macabre.

Mondays are Murder by Tanya Landman

Zombies? Spooks? Or just plain murder? My name is Poppy Fields. I never believed in

ghosts - until I stayed on a remote Scottish island, and people started dropping dead all

over the place. Was a spirit taking revenge? When Graham and I investigated, we began

to see right through it.

Greatest Zombie Movie Ever by Jeff Strand

After producing three horror movies that went mostly ignored on

YouTube, Justin and his filmmaking buddies decide it is time they

create something noteworthy, something epic. They're going to

film the Greatest Zombie Movie Ever. They may not have money

or a script, but they have passion. And, after a rash text

message, they also have the beautiful Alicia Howtz-Justin's crush-

as the lead. With only one month to complete their movie, a

script that can't possibly get worse, and the hopes and dreams of

Alicia on the line, Justin is feeling the pressure. Add to that a cast

of uncooperative extras and incompetent production assistants,

and Justin must face the sad, sad truth. He may actually be

producing The Worst Zombie Movie Ever...

Freaky Stuff by Richard Tulloch

Brian Hobble here, this fantastical book is about all these scary things that happen to

me. It's so freaky, spine-tingling, nerve-racking and gut-churning, it's incredible I'm still

alive to tell you about it. I have to escape from a savage dog as big as a sabre-toothed

tiger, rollerblade down a ramp from 17,000,000,000 kilometres high, rescue my stupid

little brother from flesh-eating zombies and, most totally terrifying of all, kiss a girl. I'm

not saying who. Nobody you know. No really, I swear, you don't know her. Prepare to be

freaked. Very freaked!

World War Z by Max Brooks

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks travelled

across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that

once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable

areas of the planet. He recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children

who came face-to-face with the living, or at least the undead, of that dreadful time.

The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks

If you have a kid who talks about the coming of the zombie apocalypse like it’s an

absolute certainty, they have to read this book. This survival guide takes its premise very,

very seriously. Brooks is an expert in disaster response and preparedness (he’s lectured

around the globe) and he very calmly and very rationally breaks down exactly what you’d

actually want to do if a zombie plague started spreading across the world. This will scare

the pants off some kids and other kids will think it’s the coolest thing they’ve ever read.

wilderness beyond their guarded walls, the ferals' numbers are

no stopping them.

Zombies: The Recent Dead by Neil Gaiman et al

You can't kill the dead! Like any good monster, the zombie has proven to be

ever-evolving, monumentally mutable, and open to seemingly endless imaginative

interpretations: the thralls of voodoo sorcerers, George Romero's living dead,

societal symbols, dancing thrillers, viral victims, reanimated ramblers, video

gaming targets, post-apocalyptic permutations, shuffling sidekicks, literary

mash-ups, the comedic, and, yes, even the romantic.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith,

Jane Austen

possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So

begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded

edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new

scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. Complete with

romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and

thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and

Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into

a different type of read.

The Mammoth Book of Zombies by Stephen Jones

The zombie - a soulless corpse raised from the grave to do its master's bidding - may

have had its factual basis in the voodoo ceremonies of the West Indies, but it is in fiction,

movies, video games and comics that the walking dead have flourished. What makes a

zombie? This Twentieth Anniversary Edition of one of the first and most influential

zombie anthologies answers that question with 26 tales of rot and resurrection from

classic authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, along with modern masters of the macabre Clive

Barker, Brian Lumley, Kim Newman, Lisa Tuttle, and many more.

I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

A 1954 science fiction horror novel. It was influential in the development of the zombie-

vampire genre and in popularizing the concept of a worldwide apocalypse due to disease.

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion

R is having a no-life crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no

pulse, but he is a little different from his fellow Dead. He may occasionally eat people,

747 he calls home, or collecting souvenirs from the ruins of civilization. And then he

meets a girl. First as his captive, then his reluctant guest, Julie is a blast of living colour in

R’s grey landscape, and something inside him begins to bloom. He doesn't want to eat

this girl—although she looks delicious—he wants to protect her. But their unlikely bond

will cause ripples they can’t imagine, and their hopeless world won’t change without a

fight.
