• Toddlers and tiaras is a

television show that aired January 27, 2009 which exploits young girls and boys to the world of beauty pageants. The show films families that doll their children up to compete for the sparkly crowns, big titles, and lots of cash.

• This show was intended mainly for women with children. It shows how far some parents will go to have their child judged to say that their child is the best and to win the money.

• TLC did not want to exploit these little girls to the country, they wanted to let millions of people see how disturbing it is, what is being done to them, and how they don’t have a say in almost anything.

• That beauty shines over intelligence in pageants.

• The young children in this show are put on stage to be looked at like a “ show dog”. They are not looked at for any brains at all, just who has the biggest hair and prettiest dress.

• Little girls are affected by this show because it is a bad influence on how they should look at themselves.

• The girls on the show are going to grow up and think that beauty will bring them money and happiness when in reality, it won’t.

• Pageants give them the wrong interpretation of how you get things in life.

• These girls who perform in the pageants do not have a normal childhood. They are usually home schooled so that they can practice their routine throughout the day.

• They lack social skills, and do not know how to interact with people outside of the “pageant world.”

Traditional• Many people think that their

children are fine doing pageants and that it is not harmful in anyway.

• They think that it is like any other “sport” and that it does not affect any aspects of their

childs life.

Feminist• People see that even though it

is somewhat like a sport, it is very harmful to put children in a position where they are being judged on beauty.

• It takes away their normal childhood and doesn’t teach them about how to use manners or patience, they will always expect to get things just because they think they are beautiful.
