These are some facts about North Dakota. The state flower is
the wild Prairie rose. The state bird is the Western Meadowlark.
The states nickname is the Peace Garden State. The state tree is
the American Elm. These are only a few of the state symbols for the
state of ND.

These are some facts about Bismarck. Bismarck Became a city in
1872. Did you know that Bismarck was not its original name? It was
Edwinton. Its population is 59,503. The city was named after Otto
Von Bismarck. Now you learned some facts about Bismarck.

These are some other major cities in ND. Fargo is the largest
city in North Dakota. It was formed in 1871. It has a population of
92,660. Grand Forks has a population of 51, 740. Minot has a
population of 35,281. Now you have learned some facts about the
major cities in ND.

These are some facts about Grand Forks. The Red River has
flooded ND 15 times. The worst came to Grand Forks. That year they
had 2 floods. In 1997, they had a flood too. It nearly flooded the
whole entire town. Now you have learned facts about Grand

Minot has a population of 35,281. Fargo has a population of
92,660. Fargo became a city in 1871. Minot became a city in 1886.
They are only 15 years apart. Now you have learned about Fargo and
Minot.

Bismarck has a population of 59,503. Grand Forks has a population
of 51,740. If you round the numbers to the nearest 10,000 they are
only 8,000 apart. Bismarck became a city in 1871. Grand Forks

Bismarck and Grand Forks.

is named after Indians. It comes from the Sioux Indian word meaning
friend or ally. Did you know that Teddy Roosevelt had to cabins

College sports. The Dakota Wizards are a minor league basketball
team. They are trying to get into the NBA. UND is college sports.

bad lands there is lots of oil plants. The Bobcat headquarters is

state. Phil Jackson He was born in 1945. He played in the NBA. He
played for the Knicks and the Nets. He played for UND in college.
Dr. Anne Carlsen She was born without complete arms and legs. She
still became a high school teacher. She built a school for kids
with disabilities.

Carl Ben Eielson He was born in Hatton, ND. He became a daring
aviator and pilot in Alaska. Carl was the first person to fly over
the Arctic Ocean. He died trying to rescue people trapped on the
ice. Now you have learned about some famous people in ND.

In the summer it gets hot and it is dry. In the winter the winds
whip through North Dakota. They can get an average of 37 inches or
more of snow. In 1997 floods caused lots of damage in Grand Forks.

There are lots of buffalo herds that roam the badlands. In Medora

North Dakota became a state in 1889. It was the 39 th state. My
state is in the upper mid west. The highest point is White Butte.
The lowest point is the Red River. It is boarded by Minnesota,
Montana, South Dakota, And Canada.
