Black and white abstract Album Art- Criteria & Objectives •Students will pick a song and then base a Black & White, non-objective painting evoking the rhythm from the song. •Students will use a sheet of 11 x 11 in. tag-board, black and white acrylic/tempura paint, brushes, water, paper towels, and graphite for an under-drawing. •Students compositions/artwork should be non-objective. A non-objective artwork does not depict identifiable objects. You can use geometric shapes, lines, and anything else that does not resemble an object in the real world. •Student’s artworks must use a full range of five different values, and some kind of repetitive rhythmic pattern. •The objective of this lesson is to react, translate, and depict the rhythm of a song as visual rhythm using value , geometric abstraction, and the principle of space.
