September 2009 - http://www.buyingbradfordconnexions.net We asked for young peopleʼs views on what makes for a Great, Good or Bad Connexions Service We had over 70 responses through the website at buyingbradfordconnexions.net Most of the responses were telling us what you thought a Great, Good or Awful Connexions centre would be like. Weʼre making sure that the team who will choose who and how Connexions is run from next year onwards know about the things that you told us are important in a Connexions service. Buying Bradford Connexions Feedback from Part 1 The Top 10 Issues There were a lot of issues that cropped up again and again. Here are the Top 10 things that we heard were important. A helpful & friendly service - with staff who listen & respect you. A speedy service - no long waiting times or hanging around. A welcoming space - with colourful decor, comfortable chairs. Less like an office & more like somewhere for young people. Lots of job and course options - and advice on the right things for you. Not just any old job or course. Good quality information - presented in leaflets, books, posters, on computers and face-to-face Help looking for jobs Plenty of staff Open when you want to visit Respecting privacy Good publicity material A great Connexions service would be: "a friendly environment where young people will feel comfortable, where staff are willing to help and youngsters feel comfortable in walking in and asking for help without hesitation." (F, 18, Bradford West) In an awful service there would be "no help or advice what-so-ever; and the people that work there have no understanding about you or what you want in life. It wouldnʼt be confidential. " (F, 17, Keighley) Where next? Weʼve suggested changes to the ʻSpecificationʼ that will be used by the Council to buy the Connexions service for you from next year onwards. But we still need your views. From 1st October we want to know what questions we should ask possible providers of Connexions service when we interview them. Register now at http://www.buyingbradfordconnexion.net to be ready to give your views on Part 2 - the interview questions we should be asking.
