Guaranteed Bursaries 16-19

• Awarded to vulnerable groups:– Students in care– Care leavers– Student receiving Income Support and living independently– Student receiving both Employment Support Allowance

(ESA) and Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

• Entitled to:– Minimum of £1,200 per academic year – Paid half termly and dependant on attendance

16-19 Bursary Fund (Discretionary)

• Students who do not fall into the Guaranteed Bursary group, can apply for discretionary funding for their course related costs and travel.

• Each application is individually assessed and is dependant on household income and student need

• Payments are dependant on attendance

19+ Learner Support Fund

• Students 19+ studying a Skills Funding Agency (SFA) course can apply for discretionary funding for their course related costs and travel

• The application will be assessed on household income and students’ need

• Payments are dependant on attendance

Childcare Funding

• If you need support looking for the right childcare for your son or daughter, we have a list of Registered Childcare Providers

• If you are under 20 years old and need assistance with the cost of childcare, you may be able to apply for funding through the Government’s Care to Learn Scheme

• For students aged 20+ who are in receipt of a means tested benefit, it may be possible for the Learner Support Fund to contribute towards childcare costs

Advanced Learning Loans (Aged 24+)

• For Academic Year 2013/14 Learners will be able to apply for a Loan to meet the upfront costs of their fees

• Available to Learners aged 24 and over undertaking a Level 3 or above course

• Application process was launched in April 2013 and will mean an online application to Student Finance England

• The Loan is non-means tested

• Loans re-paid when earning above £21,000 per annum

Progression Bursary

• A Special offer to Further Education students from the University of Derby

• Progress from your Level 3 College course onto a University Degree course at either Buxton or in Derby

• Receive £1,000 guaranteed bursary

• Use it to cover some of your course fees or just spend it however you like!
