I You are Still Our Featured Butterfly

One of the ideas I had for this Bulletin was to choose a "Featured Butterfly"

for each edition. This Butterfly would be a lady that I know personally or a

lady nominated by the readers. Ideally, she would be someone who has

had challenges in her life and has overcome those challenges with faith inThe Lord and an attitude of gratefulness no matter what. So I asked a

friend of mine to be our Butterfly; it was a no-brainer. She was perfect for

the part! However, when I emailed the interview questions to Lisa (let's just

call her Lisa for the sake of discretion), she wrote the following email back

to me: "I can't do the interview. How about Mrs. Smith? Her life has been

good and her kids are all wonderful. ...my life has been so turbulent. You

need someone who seems to have it together more than me. I have a child

that has an addiction and is repeatedly in jail. I am sorry, but! shouldn't be

the candidate. I would embarrass you. I thank you for the honor and

the fact that you understand me and know that I am a really good

mother and person. The world wouldn't understand. Love, Lisa." Even

typing this right now, I am filling up with tears. Besides the fact that Iwanted to reach through the computer and give Lisa an enormous

love smack, she has inadvertently summed up the mission of Butter-

fly Wings in a few lines. We want women to realize that no matter

what mistakes you've made, no matter what insecurities you have,

no matter what "baggage" you have, and no matter how the world

judges us, we are all worth infinitely more than what our minds have

us believe. I mean, if my friend Lisa thinks this about herself, I can

only imagine what so many other women think about themselves.

Lisa, you are a lovely, strong, one-in-a-million woman. You would

never embarrass me. And PS-You are still are Featured Butterfly-

whether you like it or not!

ick! Think about the things that bring women together ... Interesting conversations, anything chocolate, a nice cup of coffee, crafts and

ivities, no kids within a 2 mile radius ....:)

ny of this rings true with you, then block off February 4th, 2011 on your calendar. Seriously, block it off - now. Our Women's Event is

ng to be so much fun. It is a kickoff night to our monthly Find Your Wings Meetings (which you can learn more about at our Feb 4 night!)

ere will be exquisite chocolate items from local vendors accompanied by freshly roasted coffees of all sorts. We are planning activities

ch as mini-manicures, paint-your-on butterfly art, mini-massages, and more. There will Live artisans painting on canvas (which will be

ered for sale at the evening's end). We'll hear some beautiful music by Heather Lee Keller and Analesse Torres-Le with an interpretive

nce routine to compliment the lyrics. Oh, wait...did I mention, there will be a free raffle, and the items are off the hook! (I stole that ex-

ession from a OJfriend of mine). To top it off, my friend and fellow sister-in-Christ, Pastor Mary Wilson, is going to "wow" us with a dy-

mic message on "Awakening Hope." I don't think I could have found a better person to deliver this message!

've all been through "stuff" - that's the polite word to use. Ladies, let's join together as a community in order to get through our current

d past "stuff." Let's FIND OURWINGS...AND KEEPTHEM so that we can be all that God has intended for us to be. See you February 4th,
