BIBLE STUDY OUTLINEDATE: 13TH MAY, 2019TOPIC: JESUS, THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMESTEXT: PHILIPPIANS 2: 5 - 11
INTRODUCTION:Everyone born on this earth, has one name or the other by which he or she is called and identified. In most cultures, name are given based on circumstances and situations surrounding the person’s birth. Most of the births in the bible got their names based on circumstances that surrounds their birth. Hence you find names like Ichabod (the glory had departed), Jabez (son of sorrow), Jesus of Nassareth (Saviour of the world) what is your name? Jesus is the only name given that is above every other name. This name is divine and every name wherever it comes from submit to this divine name.
QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
1. Why did God give Jesus a name that is above every other name? Philippians 2: 5 – 11.2. The writer of the Proverbs says a good name is better than silver and gold. How can a Christian maintain a good name? Proverbs 22: 1, Hebrews 12: 14; Ephesians 4: 29; 1 Corinthians 15: 33.3. What are the qualities that gave Jesus “the name that is above other names” John 13: 1 – 15, Philippians 2: 5 – 11; Ephesians 5: 1 - 2.4. How can a Christians maximize these qualities in fostering good relationships among brethren? Romans 15: 1 – 6.
CONCLUSION
One of the qualities that made God to give his son a name that is above every other name is that, Jesus emptied Himself. Greed, pride, covetousness and the likes are the vices found on a selfish person. Selfishness is a major cause of disharmony in any social settings including the church. Christians are always enjoined to live selfless lives by emulating Jesus. May God grant us the grace to emulate Christ.
MEMORY VERSE: “in your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage”. Philippians 2: 5 - 6

DATE: 12TH MAY, 2019TOPIC: GOD IS STILL PERFORMING MIRACLESTEXT: JOHN 5: 1 - 9
INTRODUCTION:
John chapter five opens with the account of another miracle performed by Jesus. At the pool of Bethseda, anyone who stepped into the water after an angel stirred it receives miraculous healing. But this particular man could not move himself; hence he needed human assistance to get into the water. He had become despondent having been sick for over 38 years, and at present has no helper to move him into the water. Jesus knew his situation, and came to him in spite of his despondency, Jesus healed Him.
QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSIONS
1. From the passage, is there any merit or effort by this man which qualifies him for a miracle? John 5: 5 – 9. 2. Differentiate between the type of miracle this man was looking for (John 5: 24) and the miracle Jesus gave him (John 5: 6 – 8). 3. Should true believers expect miracles in the present dispensation? (a) If not, why not? John 14: 12; Acts 15: 12; 19: 11 – 12, 1 Corinthians 12: 7 - 10; James 5: 14 – 18; (b) If so, what type? Matthew 24: 24; Galatians 3: 5; Hebrews 2: 4.
CONCLUSIONGod is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is still performing miracles, and there are several testimonies to prove this. This miracles follow true witness of the word. However, we must be watchful and discerning in these end-times, because there are false prophets who are using cunning craftiness and several diabolical means to manipulate signs and wonders with which to deceive people and make money out of them. By their fruits you shall know them.
MEMORY VERSE:
“God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will”. Hebrews 2: 4

1. When we walk with the Lord In the light of His Word What a glory He shed on our way ! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey. Trust and Obey, For there’s no other way To be happy in Jesus, But to trust and obey
2. Not a shadow can rise, Not a cloud in the skies, But His smile quickly drives it away, Not a doubt nor a fear, Not a sigh or a tear, Can abide while we trust and obey. Trust and obey,
3. Not a burden we bear, Not a sorrow we share, But our toils He doth richly repay ; Not a grief nor a loss Not a frown nor a cross, But is blest if we trust and obey. Trust and obey,
4. But we never can prove The delight of His love Until all on the altar we lay ; For the favour He shows, And the joy He bestows, Are for them who will trust and obey Trust and obey,
5. Then in fellowship sweet We will sit at His feet, Or we’ll walk by His side in the way ; What He says we will do, Where He sends we will go- Never fear, only trust and obey. Trust and obey,
WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
