Imagine if Charles Darwin met Guy Clark and Van Morrison at an MIT barbecue in honor of Albert Einstein’s birthday and you’ll have some sense of the smartly clever mind and music of Randy Brown. An award-winning East Texas-based singer- songwriter and self-proclaimed “performing philosopher,” Brown accompanies himself on guitar and mandolin when singing his folk-Americana style songs. Rich in down-home imagery, his lyrics delve into such offbeat topics as quantum mechanics, talking to extraterrestrials with a flashlight, and testosterone poisoning. Brown, who describes himself as a late-blooming songwriter with far, far too much thinking time on his hands, recently released his second solo album. But Wait, There’s More…(2013) is a philosophically interconnected collection of songs that seek to define his experiences with faith, humanity, science and the search for meaning while maintaining a healthy sense of humor and a respect for the mystery that surrounds him. When asked what kind of songs these are, Brown responds: “they are my life, my struggle, my doubts, my faith and, most of all, my children.” Brown’s previous album, Dream Big, was released in 2007. Keep an eye out for him! You won't be disappointed. Accolades 2007 Winner New Traditions Nacogdoches, TX 1995 & 2009 Regional Finalist Kerrville Folk 2009 Winner T.I.M.E. Songwriting Comp.
