Concept Description “Pullman Cinebarre”

Page 2: Business Plan_Sample

Type of Operation|

Our team wants to create a full-service movie theater bar. This brings dinner and a movie to a

whole other level. We plan to build a deluxe movie theater with reclining luxury chairs,

folding “lap tables,” and food service ranging from the typical movie theater snacks to

complete dinners with optional desserts. Last, but certainly not least, we would offer a wide

variety of beer, wine, and spirits to compliment this awesome experience!

Product Description|

This full service movie theater will change the way Pullman residents see movies. Customers

can reserve specific seats online in advance or purchase tickets and pick seats onsite. Each

ticket includes the customer’s first beverage. Everything to eat or drink after that must be

purchased by the customer.

Located close to the kitchen will be a small bar area. This area is for those customers who

wish to arrive early to the movie and want to eat or drink before the showtime, or want to

stay after for another drink or some dessert.

The theater will have 4 screens, each with 50 seats. The seats will be top of the line

recliners, with tables that fold onto your lap (similar to desks in a classroom). The seats will

be in a stadium seating arrangement with lowered alleyways for servers to walk in front of

the chairs without impairing the customer’s view of the screen. Each chair will come

equipped with a touch screen ordering system so that customers can order food and

beverages during the movie without leaving their seat. Products will be delivered directly to

customers by servers.

Our company will also team up with College Cabs to make sure we always have at least 1 cab

onsite for those customers who end up needing transportation home after the movie. Having

the cab onsite will eliminate the wait for the customer, and will show the community that we

are invested in safety and responsibility.

Type of location|

We hope to find a building site in Pullman by the newly cleared area near Walmart on Bishop

Blvd. We need a large piece of land, enough to accommodate the building, and ample

parking. We chose this area because there is a constant stream of traffic, and it’s accessible

via the Pullman Transit (for college students without cars). Our ideal building size would be

15,000 square feet.

Site characteristics|

• Onsite cabs

• Onsite bar

• Full Service staff

• Unique ordering system

Atmospherics|

Modern theme, luxurious.

Proposed market segment|

Our market is 21+. In order to include all age groups in the Pullman market, we would have

themed movie days. For example on Thursdays we would have “Throwback Thursday” and

feature an older movie such as a Disney classic. We would also have a feature beverage and

menu item to go along with the throwback. For example serve cougar gold mac n cheese

paired with an appropriate beverage. We also have considered showing classic movies on

Wednesdays for those who enjoy an old fashioned film, at an earlier time. Weekends we

would always run new movies. The exact schedule is still up for debate.

Ultimately we want to market towards people who want to enjoy a few drinks while watching

the film, and grab something to eat while they are at it.

Competitive Analysis “Pullman Cinebarre”

Page 9: Business Plan_Sample

Major Competitors:

Bars in Pullman, WA.

   Primary

• My Office

o Their value propositions: Bar for relaxing, a social place for customers who

just want a place to talk and drink. With their downtown location, their

customers range from grad students to locals. This bar is more appealing to

that crowd as college-aged students are less likely to be there since it’s not

directly on campus, creating a less ‘rowdy’ atmosphere.

• Sports Page

o Their value propositions: Sports themed bar, catering to all major sporting

events that are televised. Appeals mainly to the local residents that are

older than your typical college student. Located next to My Office, these

two bars often compete for business, especially during major televised

sporting events.

• Rico’s

o Their value propositions: Live band performance, for customers who want

to enjoy live performances, music and drinks. Delivers a classier

atmosphere than most bars in town.

   Secondary

• The Coug

o Their value propositions: Traditional bar, with history and a small-town feel.

“A tradition since 1932”. Good for burgers and brews. Family and minors

welcome during the day. A great place for groups to meet and socialize.

• Valhalla

o Their value propositions: Create an overall college bar experience. Pool

tables and darts available. Plays major/significant sports games on their

| P a g e 9

TVs, but also has a lower dancefloor with a separate bar to cater to all

types of social experiences.

• Stubblefields

o Their value propositions: Upbeat atmosphere with more of a club scene and

vibe. Geared towards college students looking to go clubbing with friends

and meet new people. Loud music and a large dance floor attract the

masses on weekends.

• The Zzu

o Their value propositions: Located in residential area, convenient to

students who want to go to a bar have a drink without driving a car to get

there or getting a cab to College Hill. Pool tables, air hockey, darts, and

karaoke are just some of the fun features.

Movie Theaters near Pullman, WA

• Pullman Village Centre Cinemas

o Their value propositions: Family can go with children to watch a movie, or

customers who just want to enjoy the latest Hollywood has to offer. The only

movie theater in town, the closest competition is in Moscow, Idaho.

How we will differentiate and compete effectively:

Although there is a number of bars in the area that could be considered competition, these

are just bars or just a movie theater. Our concept is a combination of a bar and a movie

theater. Popcorn is not the only thing that goes along with movies, so do drinks! There is

nothing like that in or near the Pullman area. This will draw college students and adults of all

ages alike. But, serving alcohol is not just our main attraction. We also have very comfortable

seating and serve entrees to your seat. With digital ordering systems, guests will never have

to leave their seat, or be disrupted during the feature film. There will also be numerous

specials throughout the week that would cater to different age groups. Ideas include

| P a g e 10

Page 11: Business Plan_Sample

“Throwback Thursdays” where we play a classic film. We will also feature professional sports

games, such as the Super Bowl, where parties can rent out theaters for private viewing

parties. These factors will set us apart from all of the competition and create an experience

Pullman has never seen, and will be addicted to once they try it!
