INTRODUCTION By going through the process of completing this Business Plan Workbook you will find that you will generate all the information you need to prepare an effective business plan to help you run your business. Many people are worried at the idea of writing their own business plan because they believe it is a very complicated procedure that can only be done by experts, such as consultants or accountants, but with this workbook you will be able to do it yourself. You should have the “Guide notes to help you write your own business plan” by your side as you work your way through this Business Plan Workbook. It will help to explain in more detail why all the different pieces of information are required, and how to complete the various “boxes” in the workbook. Remember that your business plan is what we call a living document, which means that you do not write it and put it away in a drawer or leave it on a shelf, but you actually use it in managing your business. When complete, a proper business plan is important to help your business grow and it is vital if you want to obtain loans from financial institutions to help you start you grow your business. There is no time limit on completing the Workbook. Take your time and make it as accurate as possible. Before starting to fill the “boxes” in with information, it is a good idea to read through the Workbook, and the Guidebook, so that you have a good idea of what to expect.

Divide by 12 for a monthly Breakeven Turnover figure. (หาคาการหมุนเวียนของจุดคุมทุนตอเดือน โดยเอา 12 หาร)

N.B. Remember to take most of the costs identified for these calculations from your final cashflow projection worksheet for each year.

Are there taxes to pay on the building and if so how much? If you are renting, how long is the lease? What alterations are needed and what will they cost? Cashflow (กระแสเงินสด) “Notes on Completing a Cashflow” (“ขอสังเกตในการทําบัญชีกระแสเงินสด”)

Having gathered together all the information required to complete your cashflow, it is now time to complete the data and the calculations within the blank document. There is an example of a complete one in the Guidebook as an Appendix. 1. First task that has to be carried out is to total all the columns and rows within each of the sections. (i.e. Income, Expenditure, Cash Introduced and Capital Expenditure)

2. Then work out the monthly Operating Cashflow (or Working Capital). For each month you have to take the total value of your Sales Income and subtract your expenditure (Running Costs), thus giving you a figure which tells you how much profit or loss you have made. 3. The Operating Cashflow (or Working Capital) still does not take into consideration the main Sources of Funding for the business (i.e. Cash Introduced) or the main capital expenditure costs for machinery and equipment etc. (i.e. Capital Expenditure) (กระแสเงินสดทีใ่ชในการดําเนินงาน หรือเงินสดที่นําเขามาน้ัน ยังไมใชแหลงเงินทุนแหลงเดียวสําหรับการดําเนินธุรกิจ หรือสําหรับซื้อเครื่องมืออุปกรณ)

In order to calculate the Monthly Balance of the business we must take into consideration the monthly Operating Cashflow (Working Capital) and add any other cash that has been introduced to the business (Cash Introduced) and then subtract the Capital Expenditure (i.e. any money spent on equipment) giving us the total value of the trading for the month. This exercise should be repeated for the complete 12 months of the cashflow forecast. 4. The last task is to calculate the effects of the Monthly Balance on the Opening and Closing Monthly Bank Statement. (สิ่งสุดทายท่ีจะตองทําก็คือ การคํานวณผลที่เกิดขึ้นจากงบดลุรายเดือน ยอดเงินคงเหลือและยอดเงินยกไปในแตละเดือนตาม statement ของธนาคาร)

When a new business starts trading and opens its bank account, the first month’s Opening Balance is always zero (0). After the business transactions of that month, the business will have a trading value as contained in the monthly balance. Then the Monthly Balance is



added to the Opening Balance which in turn gives the value of the Closing Balance of the business for that month. For month two, the Closing Balance of month one becomes the new Opening Balance for month 2 and then again the Monthly Balance is added to the Opening Balance to give the new Closing Balance for month 2 and so on …….. until month 12. “Notes on the Profit and Loss” (“ขอสังเกตในการทํางบกําไรขาดทุน”) The profit and loss section of the business plan will tell you if your business is making a profit or loss. (ในแผนธุรกิจนั้น สวนของกําไรขาดทุนจะเปนสวนที่บอกคุณวา ธุรกจินั้นทํากําไรใหหร ือวาขาดทุน) A very simple Profit and Loss would look as follows: (งบกําไรขาดทุนแบบงายๆ มีลักษณะดังน้ี)

To complete the Profit and Loss use the following steps: (การคํานวณกําไรขาดทุน ใหทําตามขั้นตอนตอไปนี้)

1) In the SALES section put in the total value of the sales that you have from your Cashflow Forecast. (N.B. Remember Sales will be all your sales, including those you have not been paid for.) 2) Subtract the COST OF SALES, i.e. the total of those costs directly related to the actual production of the finished goods. Include costs incurred but still not paid at the year end. Adjust for stock left over at year end. 3) The differences between the SALES and COST OF SALES is called the GROSS PROFIT. (ความแตกตางระหวางยอดขายและตนทุนในการขาย เรียกวา กาํไรขั้นตน)

4) Next step is to total the estimated annual Fixed Costs of the business. This information can be gathered from your Cashflow Forecast. Remember to include the new cost of depreciation. If you are taking your own drawings out of the business, the next step is to subtract your required drawing from the NET PROFIT/LOSS, giving you the final amount of money retained in the business. “Notes on Projected Balance Sheet” (“ขอสังเกตในการทํางบดุลคาดคะเน”) The balance sheet is sometime called a photograph of your company. It is what your company looks like at a single moment in time. Reading it allows someone to quickly see the real value, or worth, of the company. (งบดุลน้ัน บางครั้งก็เรียกไดวาเปนภาพถายของบริษัท เพราะเปนสิ่งที่แสดงใหเห็นภาพของบริษัทของคุณ ณ เวลาหน่ึง การไดอานงบดุลน้ีทําใหบางคนสามารถเห็นมูลคาหรือคุณคาท่ีแทจริงของบริษัทของคณุได) Since yours is a new business we shall try and construct a balance sheet for your business, as it would look after one years trading. 1) First write down what you expect to spend on Fixed Assets, like your building if you own it. Calculate the depreciation on the assets and write that against each item. Take this from the original spend and this gives you the total value of assets at the end of the first year.
