• Solar. Approximately 5,000 megawatts of electricity available in San Diego County. Enough for over 3 million customers during peak usage. Another 35,000 megawatts are available through Imperial County.

• Wind. Gross potential for wind power in the San Diego region of 6,900 megawatts. Technical potential of 1,500 megawatts.

• Biofuels. One of the nation’s largest producers of biomass including urban wood wastes, agricultural wastes, forestry and landfill gas. Urban wood waste alone could support 40 to 100 megawatts of power generation.

• Ocean Science. World leader in ocean science. Global warming discovered here. Many ocean science and ocean energy companies.

• Geography. Proximity to the Mexican border and Imperial Valley is a strong competitive asset.
